How do you get 15% off?

Dammm i missed it
You need to strike while the iron is hot.
How often do they restock on the RF 24-105 f4L? And how long is the sale going to be?
No idea how long the sale will truly last. Last year, they ran 15%-off but only for a few hours, then lowered it to 10%-off.
RF 24-105L has been infrequently restocked, perhaps a couple copies every few weeks. It was very low stock to begin with going into the sale (about 2 or 3 only, if I recall correctly).
Okay thank you! Ill keep looking. Thank goodness we have CPW . If only i saw your reply right away
I don’t see any additional discounts after adding to the cart. The EOS RP is still at $687. So the price on this site and Canon’s is the discounted price. So it’s $687 + taxes. Or did I miss something. I went to checkout and I got a total of ~$750.
In the first ~45 minutes of any sale at the Canon Direct Store, the discount doesn’t appear in the price shown on the product page. During this first 45 minutes, you need to add the item to cart to see the discount. Now that the sale has been live for 90 minutes, the price is showing, and the price shown is what you get. You are not missing anything.
Thanks so much for this notification. I had just purchased the RP 24-240 kit a week ago. Called in to get the promo price difference refunded. Saved me $160. Of course I was on the phone for 2 hours on hold. They really need to up their game on a more modern system with better chat support and a callback instead of being on hold for so long. Still, not looking a gift horse in the mouth. Thanks again!
its been 10 mins and they are all gone at these prices??
Add to cart to see the discount. I still see the discounted prices in-stock.
thanks!
never mind
How does one get the additional 15% off? Do the prices listed include the additional 15%?

Fantastic price on the 5DIV. Thank you so much for letting us know about these as soon as they appear. You guys/gals are wizards!!
You’re very welcome!
Dammit. Missed the RF 24-105 L
Been waiting on a deal for a 5D mk IV. This should do the trick, thanks!
Dude thanks. Picked up the EOS R and got the 15% off at checkout.
I’ve been meaning to ask this: 100L macro used to sell in the low $600 range with promotion, now it’s close to $900 even with the discount – when and what prompted such a price increase?
Supply was very constrained for this lens earlier in the year. Many dealers were OOS for a while. It’s only recently they’ve gotten restocked. For this lens, you should look at the used market which is still around the $600-800 mark.
Thanks – I actually own one already but was curious about noticeable increase on this particular lens.
By the way, you may also want to bring attention to 470EX AI availability as well. While not as spectacular as Wal*Mart pricing error, the refurb price is still competitive, especially for those who can shop tax-free.
Not able to check out RP with 24-240mm even though it is in stock.
Probably because it was sold out but not updated … looks like it’s updated now to sold out.
Still able to add cart. RP without lens is available. But without adapter, no use of buying just body.
Adapters will show up in-stock eventually. This sale won’t be around by then
Finally got one with 24-240mm lens after trying few times. Thanks for the help.
Does Canon do price matches? I bought one of the currently-discounted lenses just a week and a half ago at a higher price and am wishing I had a time machine now.
Yes, in the past they’ve price-matched within 14 days — contact their support.
Thank you. ordered the RP/24-240 kit although all I want is the 24-240. Will sell the RP to KEH or MBP. (I hope!). I could have ordered just the lens, but the kit price is too tempting overall. Thanks very much!! (again)
Hi Bill, Are you interested to sell the RP body to a private party? I am interested to get the body only. Thanks.
P. Talukdar, I was just going to sell it to KEH. It is just simpler for me to do that even if I don’t get as much as selling to a private party, but as it turns out, the order status online at Canon changed from in process to “backorder” so I may not end up with it after all. Learning patience in the Covid age, I guess.
I was waiting for the EOS RP 24-240mm kit to go on sale but when I first saw this it showed out of stock. I ended up ordering just the EOS RP Body. However after about an hour the EOS RP with 24-2400mm kit showed in stock and ordered that as well. I was going to call Canon this morning to cancel the body only order. I just looked at the status the body only shows inventory fulfilled but the kit shows back ordered while it is still showing in stock. I love Canon cameras and lenses but I feel like Canon could not get simple things correct.
I called up Canon this morning when I called around 9:09am EST it said my wait time was 10-18 mins. I was able to talk to someone at 10:16am that is an awful 67 mins of wait. I explained that my RP + 24-240mm kit order shows “back ordered” when it is still showing “In Stock” to purchase. The person on the line told me the system is working as intended, I was like what? So this tells me Canon not only fails to recognize this as an issue but designed the system to work this way. I am wondering who in his right mind would make such a decision? This person went on to explain that Canon does not sell user returns as new but that goes through the inspection and sold as refurbished. In that regard Canon shows cameras “in stock” anticipating either more cameras coming in or order falling through. So basically they are telling me they sell cameras when they do not have in stock. He also added I will know before EOD tomorrow whether my RP + 24-240mm kit will be fulfilled or not. Meanwhile my body only order will ship out today. So if I receive both of my orders, I need to ship back the RP Body only at my expense :(.
I’m in the exact same place. Thanks for letting me know that Canon will decide on the RP 24-240 kit by tomorrow.
I’ve had a Control Ring adapter on b/o since 8/1. Canon CS swears that sooner or later it will ship….
YW, My RP body did not ship yesterday as the rep claimed. So at this point I am thinking this rep basically gave me some BS. If I call them up and ask I am 99% sure that they will tell me they have more number of orders than they expected so they are processing through the orders. The usual BS from any company
Still waiting for the shipment confirmation on Canon RP with 24-240mm. It was in stock when i placed order. But order status changed to back ordered later. How long does it take for Canon to get RP with 24-240mm kit back in stock. How long Canon keep the order in back ordered status without cancelling it. Hopefully, Canon pull it through and fulfill the orders.
Does the Canon Loyalty Program discount stack on top of this?
Based on the comments from people on Slickdeals, the loyalty program stacks up 10% on top of these great prices. But you have to wait on the call for 90 to 120 minutes it looks like.
For people who do not know about the loyalty program, if you currently own a Canon camera (not sure of any limitations), it sounds like you can call up Canon and provide the serial number of your camera. Based on that serial number Canon will provide you a personalized code to get an additional 10% off. I have never tried it because I do not have any Canon bodies at this point. So I am not sure if there are any other catch on that. If any of you know better or have used this program please add to the comment, that may help someone else.
The 10% CLP discount does stack. I just ordered the 5dIV and received the additional discount. Call (866) 443-8802 select option 2. I waited on hold for 70 minutes.
Have prices drifted up in the past few months? I assumed that with the transition from EF to RF that EF lens prices would start to fall off a cliff. I guess not.
Yes, prices on EF lenses have gone up.
I know everyone assumes that as demand decreases for a camera or lens, the price must go down as well. You’re forgetting that Canon can and does control the supply — in the months (years?) before the RF lens introduction, they were shifting all of their EF lens manufacturing over to RF lenses. The inventory of unsold EF lenses is probably smaller than you think. Many legacy lenses (like the 100L Macro) were sold out for long periods during 2020.
A similar thing happens with cameras. Everyone assumes the price of the camera will fall to near-zero after 8 years, but the history just doesn’t support that. For example, what was the list price on the 5D Mark III when it disappeared from the last major retailer in 2018? It was $2799, which is considerably higher than the $1999 “best deal” price see in 2016/2017. Dealers are efficient at getting rid of most of their inventory during clearance deals and only have a few left — which they’re happy to hang on to and sell at a future high price. Occasionally, someone needs to buy an old camera model for a compatibility reason, or nostalgia reason, or whatever.
The used market of course tells the true story of demand vs supply for a product, not just the artificially controlled new-item supply. The 5D Mark III is about $900-$1000 used right now because, well, there’s just no demand for it.
This was probably a longer answer than you were expecting.
Thanks for the long comment. I think that makes sense, it just means that the refurb sales are no longer the place to look for lenses as long as they’re so out of whack with the used market.
Ordered Canon RF 24-105 f4L IS on morning of December 1st, but my order still shows as backordered even though Canon website shows as in stock. Maybe, they are waiting for returns. My credit card shows a pending charge.
An one received shipment confirmation for RP with 24-240mm kit? Still waiting for mine to be shipped. Not sure how long Canon is going to keep order in the back ordered status. Hopefully they will get some in stock soon.
I gave up and cancelled two orders for refurb RP camera with RF 24-240 and a mount adapter. The adapter had been back ordered since 8/1! Rep said no idea when, if ever, items would ship. In meantime they have “locked up” my credit card for the amount of the purchase price. Still waiting for FedEx to deliver RP body purchased 11 days ago. It’s been stuck in Portland OR for 4 days now!
