Canon USA Raised Prices Today on 7 RF Lenses and the 5D Mark IV

As of midnight, things just got a little more expensive. Canon USA raised prices on 7 RF lenses and the EOS 5D Mark IV. The $100 price increase on the lenses is no surprise, as most RF lenses have been plagued by supply issues since late last year, and have been out-of-stock at most major dealers all summer. We’re not sure what the $200 price increase on the 5D Mark IV is trying to accomplish, given the camera was already uncompetitive at the previous $2499 price point.

Some of our street price deals are still available at the “old” pricing — while quantities last.

Just in time to offer a rebate…..they have done this before.

      So cynical…but likely true.

I’m surprised to see the 5D IV on this list. Given Canon’s inability to keep up with demand for the RF lenses, this is a logical move even if it isn’t a welcome one. Glad I got my orders in before the bump. Prices are going crazy. I ordered a couple 12TB HDDs recently and noticed they’d gone from $329 to $339. I almost decided to wait. Glad I didn’t. Next time I looked they were $399.

I’m thinking that 5DIV price is on purpose to steer people to RF. Then one day the 5DIV price will drop.

Some canon users including me couldn’t afford the old prices and now they add another $100? Is that because the demanding of switching from EF to RF system?

They’re losing money because of the chip shortage. Wont be surprised others following.

There goes my hope of a price cut on the R5 during the holidays to make it competitive with the A7RIV.

Looks like I def won’t be getting that RF 85mm now…I really wasn’t going to anyway for a long while, but damn.

How about the Samyang/Rokinon 85mm 1.4 RF instead? It’s only a fraction of the price of the Canon

Samyang has discontinued production of RF lenses. I’d be leery of buying one, possibly no support if something goes wrong with it.

Along with this $100 price increase on brand new lenses, there has also been a corresponding $90 price increase on refurbished lenses (since refurbished prices are typically pegged at 90% of the new price).

I mean, $100 is 3.3-4.3 percent of these lens’ prices, so for people who have decided to get them the availability is probably what they care more about

Who is buying 5div’s new at full price of $2699 these days? They should save the chips and materials and production line time for mirrorless, or drop the price to $1499 for that 5 year old technology. It’s no wonder Sony has taken so much market share from Canon.
