In case you missed it, the Canon Direct Store launched a sale for Memorial Day Weekend on a number of popular refurbished lenses and cameras. It’s great to see Canon return to short but deeply discounted sales — this one is only live for three more days, but the prices are the lowest seen yet on many items. Many readers have asked “how good are these deals?” — here’s our analysis and recommendation:
- super hot: EOS R6 refurbished for $1499.00
This is the lowest refurbished price seen yet for this camera by $200. The last sale, which was already the lowest seen yet, was $1699. The EOS R6 refurbished has come down in price over $400 since January of this year.
This sale, and also dealers bundling a free grip at $1999 new, are attempts by Canon to clear out these cameras. It’ll be tough for Canon to discount more than this, as that would start to cannibalize sales from the R7 and R8, so we think this is near the bottom of the prices we’ll see for this still fantastic camera.
- hot: EOS RP refurbished for $599.00
This price matches the lowest seen yet, and is the third time we’ve seen a deal with this price, with the first time being the Black Friday sale of 2022. This camera might be eclipsed by some of the new releases, but a $599 price-tag to get into full-frame RF is noteworthy on its own.
The camera sells well at this price-point each time, and we can’t imagine a lot of RP inventory is left, so we think it’s doubtful (but not impossible) that Canon will discount more than this deal in the future.
- great: RF 50mm f/1.8 STM refurbished for $109.00
This is the second lowest price seen yet for this lens. The only time lower was during the 2022 Black Friday sale, but that time it sold out very quickly (so we’re not sure it counts!). This is $10-$20 lower than most refurbished sales we’ve seen over the last few years, and thus is an awesome time to pickup a fun lens at almost half off the regular new price.
- good: RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM refurbished for $199.00
This is the second lowest price seen for this lens, but the lower price during the 2022 Black Friday blowout was crazy. At $199.00, this lens is still priced $20-50 less than the usual “refurbished sale” price for this lens, so it’s a good time to purchase if you have your eye on it.
- hot: EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM Pancake refurbished for $79.00
This price matches the lowest price seen yet, and is the fourth time we’ve seen this price. This is likely the “bottom” price we can expect to see for this classic EF-S pancake.
