The Canon Store has other items available in this “stacked” refurbished sale (where two refurbished sales appear to be overlapping). The Speedlite EL-5 is a no-brainer at $49.00, and the EOS R8 with RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM for $919.00 is a fantastic deal. Check out our refurbished stock tracker for a list of all items. Refurbished items from the Canon Direct Store come with a 1-year Canon USA warranty.

Do not get the EL-5. I ordered one after the recall notice was sent. I hoped they would send a fixed version. But, they sent the flawed recall version that wasn’t even fixed. I am sending it back now. No wonder they are giving it away for cheap. Canon trying to git rid of bad stock instead of fixing it. Very disappointed. Been a canon loyalist for decades.
Recall? What’s wrong with them?
the battery Loses full charge in 48 hrs when not used. google el-5 recall. you’ll see.
These refurbished EL-5’s had the problems repaired before being sent back out, and Canon offered to repair older EL-5s as well.
I left fully charged batteries in the 2 I just bought, with the noted faulty serial numbers. Both batteries held power with 0-1% drop over a day and a half.
That’s disappointing that they sent a recalled item, but this price was likely by accident rather than getting rid of bad stock. I’ve not had great luck with Canon refurbished (unlike most) and so I wouldn’t be entirely surprised to receive a recalled item as well. But it would be eligible for repair at least.
