Both R5 and R6 Are Now In-Stock and Discounted, No Tax Collected

It’s taken a long time to get here, but finally: both the EOS R5 and EOS R6 are in-stock via our street price program, and at a discount: the EOS R5 is $3849 and the EOS R6 is $2449, from authorized Canon dealers, with a 1-year Canon USA warranty, free shipping, and no sales tax is collected.

There are also a number of hard-to-find add-ons in-stock — control ring adapters are available for $199, and the RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS is available for $599, when added to a camera purchase.

It says they are “in stock” but don’t believe it! Dozens of Canon users have a complaint online recent years about purchasing things from the canon store that are listed in stock, but then after they place the order they find out at some point later that the item is actually on back order. Canon claims that the item must’ve been sold out at the same exact time that they place the order or that there is a tech glitch that causes the website not the update, but regardless of the reason, it’s been years and Canon has not fixed this. And it’s impossible to get customer support once you place an order. You call the help number and can wait for over an hour and no one will be there. And there is no chat and there is no email. I don’t really understand how Canon can run a business like this, but that’s what they do. So when the estore says something is in stock, Canon has no credibility.

This is not in stock via the Canon store. This is via our street price program. These are two different things…

Oh, ok, got it. So Canon only misleads customers into making a purchase for something posted as in stock that’s really on back order in its estore? Good to know! But now that I find Canon so untrustworthy when it comes to this issue I don’t want to take that risk again. Having one expensive item on indefinite back order at a time is enough for me.

I can’t speak to what’s happening specifically at the Canon eStore, but from most authorized dealers (including the ones we work with for our street price program) — when it’s in-stock, it’s in-stock. There is no Canon-wide conspiracy.

Your post is not about street price, but your experience matches precisely my own ordeal with Canon USA about a 24-240mm refurbished in stock that went on back-order.

Canon USA said to sign-in before ordering because as a guest order (default) you will be left in the dark about the order status. Finally, back-order for refurbished means they can’t tell when it will reappear in stock, if ever.

Yes, many customers have complained online about this issue. I was signed in and even got a confirmation email saying the item I purchased 20 minutes after going on sale was “in stock.” I received no other email about it but when I checked the order status online it said it was on back order. And With zero customer service available, I don’t even know how to cancel my order or to get an update about when it might be available. It’s just stuck in limbo. And I don’t think this is an error. This appears to be Canon’s business practice. And I am a loyal Canon customer, who has spent over $10,000 on Canon gear.

You’re trying to get a refurbished item at a further discount, and then you’re mad that you don’t get top notch customer service. You need to decide what’s more important, the fastest service or the absolute best price. If you demand the fastest service, then pay retail.

I literally ordered an r6 from Adorama this morning and got an email about 4 hours later saying it was boxed and will be shipping out by the end of the day.

I recently purchased the R6 via the street price and both the camera and the adapter were in stock and shipped immediately.

I’ve bought multiple lenses via the street price program on this site and each transaction was smooth as silk. I’ve also bought a refurb camera and a refurb lens from the Canon store, and didn’t have any problems–though shipping was a little slower than I would have liked.

I can 2nd this – bought Street Price through CPW & have had nothing but good experiences

Ordered an r6 through CPW and it came very fast. Ordered the r5 a while ago and it’s finally in stock BUT CPW was absolutely upfront about the retail store selling them, their stock and when we might expect something. Nothing but love in respect for CPW as it has both saved me money and burned a huge hole in my pocket.
