Many CPW readers are reporting that their EOS R5 pre-orders shipped in the last few days. It appears that Canon USA got a large shipment of the camera. We’re hearing that B&H and the Canon Store were filling orders placed as late as mid-September.
The EOS R5 is still backordered everywhere, but it seems like supply may catch up to the demand soon. The Canon Store was even briefly showing the EOS R5 in-stock earlier today for a few minutes, but it sold out quickly. We think a backorder may be filled quickly.

I got that B&H deal posted in mid-September. The camera shipped on 10/1 and I received it the next day. With all the backorders, I wasn’t expecting it until at least November!
Here also on the B&H deal. They’ve been on break since Friday afternoon, so I really appreciate the effort they put in to get these out on Thursday. October is a great time for birding, so…

Just got my R5 today that I bought in mid sept with the 200 off B&H deal. As for my Bestbuy order that I placed on 9/1, that’s last been updated to ship by 10/23. Looks like B&H has priority of BestBuy.
On backorder for me at B&H, since late July. I actually had the R5 body in my cart on the Canon USA store yesterday and purchased it, or so the screen said after I submitted the payment. Then I got email confirmation…backordered. Took about 20 minutes but I finally got hold of a support rep who cancelled the order. So I’m back to waiting on B&H.
Interesting, that B&H shipped orders from September before July.
Canon Store has had the EOS R5 showing “in-stock” intermittently all weekend. Readers report that even if it goes backorder it ships within a week or so. (Anyone else have stories to report?)
Ordered from Canon Store 9/21 when it was “in stock.” By the time I checked out, was backordered. Email said “In Stock” and “Backordered” depending on which paragraph one looks at. The other day, while R5 reported “in stock” at the Canon store, support said none were in stock. Seems to be a huge disconnect between sales, actual stock, and reality. Very tempted to cancel and order from other sources but don’t want to lose my place in any queue, if there actually is a system in place at CanonUSA.
I’ve now “added to cart” at Canon USA multiple times when it is in stock, only to get backordered by checkout. Wonder just how accurate Canon USA website is? When I speak to customer service to cancel order (because I already have another in the queue from prior attempts) they tell me they have none in stock.
I placed my order with Canon on 8/16 and the only information I get on the order screen is backordered. Nothing more. I ordered the standard adaptor, and an extra battery. I don’t recall clicking on the ‘ship complete’ button, that is what the order shows. I’m afraid that could delay it more.
Just got a notice that my card has been charged. No shipping notice from Canon yet but hopefully I’ll have my R5 next week.

I have had mine on backorder from B&H since 8/13. It’s frustrating to see reports here and on other forums that many people who ordered from B&H well after I did have received theirs already.
I ordered mine on 7/25 from Canon USA. I don’t mind the wait, but they should notify customers of expected ship dates (or ranges) and provide updates when those slip and are advanced.
I got mine yesterday from the Street Price store!!! To bad I’m on travel and can’t play with it yet until Friday night…;-(
I ordered mine on the last day of preorder from Adorama. It has been on back order ever since.
