Control Ring EF-EOS R Mount Adapters Now In-Stock at Canon Store

The Canon Direct Store has restocked their Canon Control Ring EF-EOS R Mount Adapters — it’s available for $199.99. A limited quantity is available.

This item has been out of stock at all authorized dealers for the last seven weeks (no doubt due to the success of the EOS R5 and R6 cameras). Get yours while the stock lasts!

    WARNING:

I ordered one of the EF-EOS R Control Ring Mount Adapters from the Canon Direct store last night, seemingly without problems. The order page stated that these were still In-Stock when I placed the order.

I just received a “Canon Backorder Notification” EMail informing me that this item is now backordered. That same status is listed in the CPW page for the item.

If one goes to the Canon site, however, it is STILL listed as “In Stock”. I am posting this message so that anyone else tempted to order from Canon is aware that they apparently do NOT have this adapter available, despite the message on their order page.

I’ve had exactly the same experience here at the store. I order, I get a receipt and a pending CC charge. Five days later, nothing. Two week later nothing and I get a “back order” notice when I call the automated phone tree.

This was in July. I waited on hold for an hour and got nowhere when I talked to someone. Now, after 5-6 weeks I’ve gone through two restock cycles since and my order is still “back ordered”.

If you’re ordering when they only show 1 or 2 in-stock, you might get thrown into this backorder limbo. Their actual inventory system doesn’t seem tied into the online “in stock” system very well…

In my case, the site only reported “In Stock” (ie: no quantity shown).

I just checked, and the Canon site is now reporting “on backorder”. Obviously, I shall wait….

Just don’t wait for them to fulfill your back order, as they never will – even when you get a live person on the phone who says they will….

Something tells me I am going to be glad I didn’t get rid of the polarizer adapter. I got it from the price error on BnH a while back, when they accidentally swapped the price with the basic adapter, so it was only 99 bucks. I was going to sell it for a profit, but now it might be the only way I can use my R5 or R6, if I can ever get either of those that is…

I actually returned my R6 because of the unavailability of these adapters. I’m not going with 3rd party ones. And do not want pay off my card for a camera I cannot use. I have great L series lenses and don’t want to go all in on RF lenses just yet.
