Call me ignorant, but what about the 5D IV makes it so much more expensive than the EOS R?

I think the 5D MK IV still has a few advantages-

    Dual card slots
Shoots DCI 4K (albeit in a MUCH less efficient codec)
    Better Battery Life
More FPS in RAW (I think?)
    Optical viewfinder

These aren’t worth $600 more in cost to me but might be to others. I personally prefer an EVF nowadays and something tells me the AF of the EOS R, not to mention RF glass, make it a better option. The only thing I’m envious of on that list is dual card slots but also, **knock on wood**, I’ve had a lot of reliability from my SD cards.

Actually the R does 8 FPS in single focus and 5 FPS tracking. The IV does 7 FPS in both.

But the IV has a 21 image buffer and the R is in the 40’s.

Thanks Dustin. Yeah, I am not disagreeing with some of the pluses of the 5D, but it just seems it is consistently a lot more money. For some the dual card slots & increased battery life might be necessary (i.e. wedding photography). But personally, I’d much rather have the EOS R and put the difference in savings into some nice glass.
