I normally don’t like the 17-40mm F4L since for 200-250 more you can get the 16-35mm F4 IS, a much better and image stabilized lens. But for 419 bucks it would probably be the best value wide lens on a full frame camera without being full manual. I would only suggest it for a full frame though, as on a crop I think you would be better off with the EF-S 17-55mm F2.8 IS USM for around the same money usually. One stop faster, just as wide with more reach, significantly less barrel distortion at all ranges, less CA at all f-stops, IS, and overall a sharper lens. But if you have a 5D or 6D or 1D and need something wide for it, that is a pretty great price on the 17-40mm.

That 85mm F1.2 is a tempting offer as well, but a word of advice. This is another lens I wouldn’t bother putting on a crop. The crop factor pretty well kills all the things about it that make it stand out, and the results just aren’t the same as when you use it on a FF. It becomes a tight headshot lens, which is something you can do with a 70-200mm F2.8 jsut fine and is about the same money (and is far more versatile). But on a FF, that lens is legendary. 1199 is a pretty far cry from it’s usual price tag, so if you were looking for a portrait lens for your 6D this could be it (or 5D or 1D).
