I think KEH really wants me to buy a 6D. I didn’t pull the trigger when it was 730, now it’s 680 for same grade. That’s 320 dollars less than the adorama/bnh deals. Pretty confident a used 6D will last me a long time, since it would be a portrait, astro, and landscape camera for me. I’d likely still do the bulk of my action based shots on my 80D. Could easily cover the cost by offloading my #2 80D. Thinking….

Wouldn’t it be better to wait for the next Canon Direct refurbished sale? At least you get a warranty. Granted, stock of refurbed 6D’s will be diminishing over the next year. I bought my 6D in 2015 during the great “price mistake” deal at roughly $850. I can only imagine refurbed 6D’s are that or less now.

The last refurb sale had them at 1099, which was in the last week. Over the holiday I think they dropped to either 900 or 1000. Even if they did hit 850 that is still not as good as 680 for a camera that will likely still last a long time.

I’m probably still not going to pull the trigger. I was mostly jsut pointing out that 730 was a good price for a used 6D, and then they went and knocked off another 50 bucks. But ultimately, I am not in a hurry to grab a full frame camera since I’m getting by fine on my 80D(s). Don’t have a lot of FF lenses anyway, though I do have 70-200mm F2.8.

680 is a very good price, don’t get me wrong. My concern is over the BGN rating. Now, granted, KEH is a reputable seller, and their ratings are standardized. However, I would be extremely hesitant at paying that much for a “bargain” camera, because who knows how long it would last. It’s external condition might be fine, but internally, it could be worn out.

I speak from a bit of experience on this one. A few years back, I bought a 1994-vintage EOS 1-N film camera when one of the local camera stores was closing up shop. It was a rental unit, so it had been cleaned & kept up. I only had it for about 6 months before it stopped working. The cost to repair it is more than twice what it would be to replace it with the best conditioned one at KEH. Just not worth it for a camera that old. I have since replaced it with a Rebel 2000 that was acquired at a garage sale for $5. It has better AI and it has been going strong for nearly 5 years now.
