EOS 5D Mark IV Refurbished for $2799.20 (First Time Seen!)

The Canon Direct Store has made the EOS 5D Mark IV available refurbished for the very first time. This popular camera is priced at $2799.20. Refurbished items from the Canon store come with a 1-year Canon USA warranty, but unfortunately the Canon store does charge tax to most states.

We’re surprised at how early this camera has been made refurbished, only 10 months after its launch. This is the second high-end body to be made available in the last month, with the EOS-1D X Mark II Refurbished for $4799.20 recently being released, it has been very popular.

Please also consider our street price of $2999, brand new, with no state sales tax collected. We are expecting the street price to increase in one to two weeks, so this price will not last.

As much as I hate to troll this, after tax this is the same price as the street price. It would be best to go that route or wait for a 10% sale.

If I was looking for this camera there is no question I’d go with the street price. Canon refurbished can have some decent deals but lately their customer service has suffered greatly.

10%-off sales haven’t (historically) applied to camera bodies. The only one notable exception is that recent PAYPAL10 coupon sale. Before that, it’s been years since the previous time we’ve seen bodies discounted in a %-off sale.

Seriously? I could have sworn the 80D i picked up a few months ago was 10% off. It might have just been a good price though. In that case, let’s wait and see if the price comes down after a bit. Would love a 5D.

I went back and checked, and yes, you’re right, the March “potatoes” sale did apply to bodies. (They did eliminate all other discounts on bodies before running the sale though, so it ended up being a wash.)

Still, they often have “$xxx off” sales on specific bodies (like the 80D) but rarely are they a blanket “%-off” sale. Which I’ve always found really odd.

Agree with above; or just go grey market for $2750 brand new on Ebay. Was hoping a refurb could dip before the grey market :-\

Not sure an extra 250 in savings is worth giving up the warranty. Maybe on a Rebel, or an under $500 lens. But to each there own.

Grey Market bodies are generally covered by Canon Warranty. They state they don’t but they’ve almost always serviced them as such. They register fine for Canon CPS as well fwiw.

Yes, this is true, grey market bodies receive warranty service today, but this is at Canon’s discretion. You don’t want to be caught up if they suddenly change their policy, as they have been threatening to over the last few years.

5%, I believe, which would make the tax around $150

        7%

      Did he buy one?

  13. July 2, 2017 at 10:33 pm EDT

Well Dave, I think maybe the tax changes based on where the item is shipped. This is the info straight from the checkout, and is just slightly above 7%. Everything I have ordered has been 7%, but maybe in your state it is 6%. Either way, the sales tax kills this deal when compared to the street price.
