So annoyed by the mail in rebates… If there’s a way to do it without cutting the barcode off the box I’d be for it. These are high priced items that will retain their prices (lenses anyway, bodies not so much) over time and eventually many of us will sell/replace them with a newer model and it just looks bad when you’re trying to sell a complete item (with boxes, manuals, etc) except that there’s a giant hole on the side of the box.

Is this just something that Canon does? The other lens and camera makers don’t seem to do this. They’ll just price it how they want in the first place. If they drop the prices they simply drop the price, not play these stupid mail in rebate games.

You should inquire on the street price form. Occasionally we have deals on items that do not require mail-in rebates.

Just a consumer voicing concerns. If you’re so happy with Canon then just keep buying their stuff and shut up. You’re not adding anything to the discussion.
I’ve been a Canon fan for a long time but a lot of things they’ve been doing recently (including these stupid mail in rebates) have been annoying and veering me away to other companies products instead.

Cut out the UPC and leave the Serial Number intact with the box. It doesn’t solve your problem with the hole in the box, but it does reassure the buyer that the lens you are selling is not a refurbished lens.
