EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM for $1799 After Rebate at B&H, Adorama

Price drop: B&H Photo Video, Amazon, and Adorama have the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM for $1799.00, after a $300 mail-in rebate. This deal is also eligible for 2% rewards.

Proceed to checkout to see the special discounted price.

This price is within $100 of the double-dip deals we saw in the last few months. If you have store rewards to use, this is the deal for you.

Double-Dip: EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM for $1699 AR at BuyDig via eBay

This double-dip deal is back: BuyDig via eBay has the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM for $1699.99, after a $300 mail-in rebate.

Double-dip deals are ones where the stores discount by the amount of the mail-in rebate (in this case, $300), effectively doubling the value. BuyDig is an authorized dealer and eligible for the $300 rebate. They also had a sale on the 70-200 II and the 100L Macro last week.

If you’re afraid about the mail-in rebate — we’ve heard from many readers that they received their rebates less than 3 weeks after making the claim.

EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM for $1899 at B&H

Nice to see prices starting to move again: B&H Photo Video has the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM for $1899.00, after $300 mail-in rebate. You see this price after an extra discount at checkout.

Not nearly as good as the double dip deal a few weeks ago, but after 4% rewards your net is $1811.

We’re hoping for some more fresh deals soon. It has been a surprisingly quiet two weeks, except for the massive Canon refurbished sale.

Hot Deal: EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM for $1699 at B&H

B&H Photo Video has now matched this crazy hot deal: the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM for $1699.00, after a $300 mail-in rebate. This price is seen when you start the checkout process.

Just like the Amazon deal that sold out in a matter of hours, this price won’t last. This ties for the cheapest price ever. B&H is giving 4% rewards on this purchase.

UPDATE: Adorama is also matching this price too.

Amazon Double Dip is Back: 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM for $1699!

This deal is back: Amazon has the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM for $1699.00 (after $300 mail-in rebate).

This ties for the cheapest price that we’ve ever seen for this lens since its introduction. They’re also giving a 2% reward.

This hot deal was featured on Sunday and sold out in less than two hours. It’s back again now, and like last time, this price will not last long at all.

This is the latest in a series of double-dip deals where Amazon discounts the price by the amount of the active mail-in rebate, which effectively doubles the rebate.

UPDATE: As of 9 AM ET, now out of stock. But they’re still taking orders at this price, and will ship when stock is available.

Super Hot Amazon Double Dip: 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM for $1699!

Amazon has the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM for $1699.00 (after $300 mail-in rebate). This is the cheapest price that we’ve ever seen for this lens. They’re also giving a 2% reward.

This is the latest in a series of double-dip deals that Amazon has been running for the last few weeks. If past double-dip deals are any indication, this price won’t last longer than a few hours.

I’ll also say that I’ve been predicting this deal for the last couple of weeks!

UPDATE: Sold out in 2 hours — these deals never last more than a few hours. Price is back up to $1999. Congrats if you got in on the deal!

Massive L-Lenses Price Drops: 24-70 II for $1999 and More

Looks like a sale on L lenses might be on the horizon after all. We’re seeing a massive price drop at Best Buy with savings from $100 to $300 off L lenses, which undoes the price increase seen last month (and in some cases, goes even lower).

UPDATE: It looks like Canon just started a mail-in rebate for this time period, and Best Buy may have accidentally applied the prices as if it were an instant rebate. So this is a price mistake that might be fixed shortly. This might be an opportunity to see if you can double-dip the rebate — buy at the lower price — if Best Buy will fill your order — and still get the rebate. Example: buy 24-70 II for $1999, mail-in for the $300 rebate, net price: $1699.

UPDATE 2: Despite comments to the contrary, this deal is still live as of 6:30 PM ET. Best Buy is still showing the lower prices during checkout. Best Buy is an authorized dealer and thus the mail-in rebate should be valid for them. If you read the fine print on the Canon rebate form there aren’t any clauses that would exclude Best Buy or invalidate the rebate claim. (It’s Canon, not Best Buy, that is paying the rebate and they probably don’t care what the purchase price was.) That being said, please do try this at your own risk. 🙂

UPDATE 3: 11 PM ET: 24-70 II out of stock.

UPDATE 4: I (and several others) called the Canon Rebates hotline (1-866-668-9861) and asked about the Best Buy eligibility. According to the agent I spoke to, the list was not published yet but she felt that Best Buy would not be a valid retailer for this rebate (even though they are an authorized dealer). Shame on Canon for not being transparent about this on their mail-in rebate form.

UPDATE 5: The list is published and I’m getting conflicting information: according to the official rebate site, BEST BUY COMPANY INC. is on the list of participating retailers for this rebate. Here’s a link to the list. I’ve also included a screenshot just in case:

best_buy

I called them again and they said the list was the official list and will not be changed, and if Best Buy is on the list, they are eligible. I recommend calling yourself to confirm: 1-866-668-9861.

Here are some of the drops we saw:
