Rebates Expiring: 70-200 II for $1849 AR, 24-70 II for $1699 AR

We have been told by a few people that the Canon lens rebates will not be renewed in their current form. We’re told that the next round of rebates will provide smaller rebates on lenses, and only when you buy lenses at the same time as a camera. As a result, we’re expecting the effective prices to go up after Saturday, January 31st, when the current rebate ends.

It’s not too late to take advantage of the street prices — as long as your order is entered by Friday, you can still take advantage of the mail-in rebate, you don’t need to receive your purchase before January 31st. Good thing too, as shipping will likely disrupted for many due to the blizzard on the East Coast! (Please stay safe.)

The current street prices are quite close to the historic lows. For example, the authorized dealer street price on the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM II ($1849 AR) is close to the historic-low price for the lens. Same as for the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM ($1699 AR). We probably won’t see these prices again until the Holiday 2015 rebates (our guess). Check out the price graph below for the 70-200 II to see the trend. The graph shows the lowest advertised authorized dealer price over time. The best prices occur during the November/December/January season, which we’re just about to exit.

eBay Frenzy: 5D Mark III + 24-105L Import for $2699 GetItDigital

This Cyber-Monday deal is back: Get It Digital via eBay has the Canon EOS 5D Mark III with EF 24-105L IS Kit for $2699.99. This ties the Cyber-Monday deal for the lowest price to-date for this kit.

Please note, this is an import, a Canon USA warranty is not guaranteed; Canon USA historically warrants grey market bodies, but this is at their discretion. Also note, GetItDigital‘s other storefront AllNewShop is known to call to attempt an up-sell to the USA model (claiming the 5D Mark III import model is inferior, which it is not), please be aware of this.

Street Price Special: EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM for $659 AR

EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM

We now have an incredible street price special on the EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM, only $659 (after rebate) brand new from authorized Canon dealers with a full Canon USA warranty.

This lens was introduced in 2012 at a price of $1,499, and it’s incredible how fast the price has dropped.

We also have a fantastic street price on the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM of $1699 AR. The mail-in rebate expires on January 31st, the end of this week!

Street Price Specials: 100L Macro $750, 300mm II, 400mm II, 500mm II

We now have a few street price specials on lenses, brand new from authorized dealers with a full Canon USA warranty, free shipping, and no tax collected. The prices on the EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM and the EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM are fantastic, they are the lowest street price we’ve seen yet.

While quantities last.

The Canon mail-in rebate on lenses ends January 31st, check out the list of items with street prices.

Popular Street Prices on Lenses, Canon Rebates Expire January 31st

Many of the recent deals have been on bodies (and body plus printer bundles). Remember, we still have extremely popular street prices on Canon lenses, brand new from Canon authorized dealers with full Canon USA warranty, and free shipping. The Canon mail-in rebates were extended from the Holiday season and expire on January 31st. We’ve been told the rebates won’t be extended in their current form (although we are waiting for solid confirmation of this).

It’s not too late: you don’t need to mail-in the rebate form until March 2nd. As long as you order it during January, you can receive the package after the rebate deadline and still be eligible for the mail-in rebate. You can buy different items and claim multiple rebates; but you can’t claim the rebate on two copies of the same item during this rebate period (which started November 23rd.)

Small Warning About AllNewShop’s eBay Deals (5D Mark III / 1D X)

Several readers have already received their EOS 5D Mark III ($2149) and EOS-1D X ($4199) from AllNewShop via eBay‘s on-going sale. They have excellent prices (the lowest we’ve seen), and readers report receiving brand new items as advertised.

The catch is: although the auction (as advertised) is for a grey market / import body, readers report that the store will call and attempt an up-sell to the Canon USA model (claiming that the grey market body is inferior). Do not fall for this. The grey market version is physically identical to the Canon USA version, and is not a different product. Stick to your guns, politely remind the retailer that as per the eBay agreement, they are obligated to sell you this camera body at this price. They will process your order at the eBay stated price, and our readers report that they are shipping Canon USA models with Canon USA warranty cards anyway — win!
(Please note, it’s possible that they really do have both grey bodies and Canon USA bodies, and you may not have the same experience in receiving a Canon USA model.)

As they do eventually process the order, and ship a brand new camera at a fantastic price, this is just an up-sell (not a bait-and-switch). We still think it’s a great deal, but want to warn our readers to expect the call and stay firm during the up-sell. The deals are still live now.

Thanks Chris & Toni for the reader reports. If you also ordered this deal, please comment on what you received in the comments below.

Live Again: Hot 6D Bundle — $1249 Body / $1749 Kit AR at Adorama

This hot EOS 6D + 24-105mm f/4L IS bundle deal is back! It sold out in 90 minutes on Monday.

Adorama has a bundle of the EOS 6D with 24-105mm f/4L Kit, PIXMA PRO-100 and free paper for $1749.00, after a $650 mail-in rebate ($300 on camera + $350 on combo.)

Click here to check out the deal at Adorama. This is the lowest price we’ve seen for the EOS 6D with 24-105mm f/4L Kit in a bundled form. It’s similar, to a deal seen during Cyber week (although this price is $100 less than last time, and last time had a slightly better printer).

There’s also a similar deal for the EOS 6D (body only) and PIXMA PRO-100 for $1249.00, after a $650 mail-in rebate, which is still an extremely good deal (but not nearly as good a deal as the kit.) You can click here to check out that deal at Adorama.

The Canon mail-in rebates (including this Combo rebate) are extremely reliable, and many readers have already gotten them from the Cyber week sale. If you don’t need a printer, nor want to deal with the extra combo rebate, our street prices are $1829 AR on the EOS 6D with 24-105mm f/4L Kit and $1299 AR on the EOS 6D from authorized Canon dealers.
