Surprise, Lens Rebates Are Standalone (No Body Purchase Required)

Rebates have been so full of surprises lately. We posted earlier in the week that the new lens rebates were only going to be on the smaller set of the most popular lenses, have reduced rebate values, and require the simultaneous purchase of a body. (This was based on info that we’d seen earlier in the week, confirmed by multiple sources.)

We got two out of three right — the change is: there’s no requirement to purchase a body to get the lens rebates. The lens rebates values are indeed smaller by $50-$100, and available on fewer lenses. It was more advantageous to purchase in January (good call if you did), but a small rebate is better than no rebate!

The PIXMA PRO-100 rebate is also significantly reduced (now $250 for a bundle instead of $350). This has a new promotion id, 8191332, so you are eligible for this rebate even if you purchased the same item in the previous rebate.

See the rebate form.

Lightroom 5 + MG5620 Wireless Printer for $68 BuyDig via eBay

Another great Lightroom 5 + printer combo deal!

BuyDig via eBay has a bundle of the PIXMA MG5620 Wireless All-in-One and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 for $67.99. This is a great way to purchase Lightroom 5 as Lightroom 5 regularly goes for $139.

Click here to check out the deal at BuyDig via eBay.

Lightroom 6 is rumored to be released in a few months, but with this copy of LR5 you can purchase a discounted upgrade to LR6 when it is available.

Upcoming Rebates and Price Changes for Sunday, February 1st

The current mail-in rebates end tonight, and Canon is starting a new slate of mail-in rebates tomorrow, February 1st, ending on February 28th. They are also lowering the price on 1-series bodies. Here’s a summary of the changes:

  • $800 price drop on EOS-1D X.
This makes the current price (after $800 MIR) permanent.
  • $50 instant rebate on 600EX-RT is back.
  • Lens rebates are NOT renewed.

There will be small lens rebates available on the most popular lenses, however, it requires the simultaneous purchase of a camera body (6D/7D/7D Mark II/60D/70D) in order to be eligible. The rebate values are also reduced from the current, stand-alone rebates. e.g., 70-200 II will have a $100 rebate if purchased with a camera body. Compare to a $150 no-strings rebate today (street price of $1849 AR.)

UPDATE: Turns out the requirement for purchasing with a camera body is removed, and the lens rebates are standalone. They are smaller and on fewer lenses as described.

Last Call for Street Price with Mail-in Rebates on Lenses

One final reminder that the Canon mail-in rebate is scheduled to expire tomorrow, January 31st. We’ve heard that the lens rebates won’t be extended at the same rebate value (although bodies we hear will be).

As it takes a few hours to do the street price process we strongly recommend you confirm your street price order before 1 PM ET today (that’s 3 hours from now). It may be possible, in some cases, to confirm your street price order as late as 11:59 PM tomorrow, but that’s cutting it close!

Check out the street prices. Historically, the Canon holiday mail-in rebates (which these are) result in the lowest prices of the year. You don’t need to receive your purchase before tomorrow, you have until March 2nd to submit the mail-in rebate.

Street Price Special: 16-35mm f/4L IS $1019 AR (Expiring Rebate)

A street price special (only while quantities last) on the highly rated EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM: it’s now available for $1019.99 after the $100 Canon mail-in rebate.

The Canon mail-in rebates are scheduled to expire on January 31st, and we haven’t heard about any lens rebate extensions. It appears (barring any surprise last minute changes) that we will have to say goodbye to the current holiday pricing, until the next major rebate season. Check out the street prices on other lenses.

6D + 24-105L Deals: $1749 Import, $1829 Authorized, or $1839 Bundle

Today’s eBay Frenzy Deal is on the Canon EOS 6D with 24-105mm f/4L Kit for $1749.99 from AllNewShop via eBay. This is the lowest price seen to-date on this camera. Note, it is an import model from a reseller; also beware that the store is known to call to attempt an up-sell.

If you’d like to purchase brand new from a reputable authorized dealer, please consider the street price of $1829 after the $300 Canon mail-in rebate. Free shipping, no tax to most states.

Alternatively, Adorama has a bundle of the EOS 6D with 24-105mm f/4L Kit and PIXMA PRO-100 for $1839.00, after a $650 mail-in rebate. This is slightly higher than the deal they had last week, but is still an excellent price.
