Surprise, Lens Rebates Are Standalone (No Body Purchase Required)

Rebates have been so full of surprises lately. We posted earlier in the week that the new lens rebates were only going to be on the smaller set of the most popular lenses, have reduced rebate values, and require the simultaneous purchase of a body. (This was based on info that we’d seen earlier in the week, confirmed by multiple sources.)

We got two out of three right — the change is: there’s no requirement to purchase a body to get the lens rebates. The lens rebates values are indeed smaller by $50-$100, and available on fewer lenses. It was more advantageous to purchase in January (good call if you did), but a small rebate is better than no rebate!

The PIXMA PRO-100 rebate is also significantly reduced (now $250 for a bundle instead of $350). This has a new promotion id, 8191332, so you are eligible for this rebate even if you purchased the same item in the previous rebate.

See the rebate form.

If you purchase something through a link on our site, we may get a small share of the sale (at no cost to you). Please read our disclosure for more info.

I’m sure it’ll show up in a rebate sometime; as for when, I do not know. My guess would be late spring at the earliest, possibly not until fall.

Our street price is currently $1639.

But you still have to submit the rebate when you go with cpw price, right?

In most cases, yes. Sometimes, we have other deals that don’t require a mail-in rebate.

I think there were some fees involved on both ends from Paypal. I got my gift cards, called Amex and they are transferring complete balance to my checking account. They said to allow 15 business days. No hassle and took about 10 minutes of phone time. I do have an AMEX credit card but that didn’t enter into any of the discussion, other than to establish my identity. Call their member services # (on website) and go through the phone tree til you talk to an agent. They will either take care of it or transfer you to the right department.

Oh great !!! Even better if they can transfer it to my Amex credit card since that would be the one I’ll be using to make the purchase. Thanks for the tip
