New Tool: CanonPriceWatch’s eBay Dealer Reputation Reports

At CanonPriceWatch we take the reputation of the stores we list very seriously! About a year ago, we created a tool to analyze the reputation of eBay dealers. This is one of the factors to decide which stores are reputable, and which are not. We’re happy to now share it with our readers!

>> CanonPriceWatch eBay Reputation Reports.

This very intense analysis of eBay feedback is especially important for unauthorized dealers. We calculate and track our own “feedback score” that is more stringent than eBay’s feedback score. We only include feedback on high-value Canon items so dealers can’t pad their feedback (as is very common), and also penalize for “neutral” feedback instead of just ignoring it in the score (like eBay does).

You can check out our reputation reports for the major eBay dealers that we list — and also one we do not list (you’ll see why). For example, check out authorized dealer Profeel‘s incredible perfect rating, or unauthorized dealer Get It Digital‘s history. You can even drill down and read feedback received by the retailer on a specific item, e.g. feedback on 6ave on only 60D purchases.

EOS M with 22mm for $311 at B&H, Free Shipping

If you still don’t have an EOS M, B&H Photo Video has the Canon EOS M with 22mm Kit (Black) for $311.00. According to the B&H site, this is for a US model, not an import version.

This is a bit more expensive than the eBay unauthorized dealer deal a few weeks ago. However, that was an import model from an unauthorized dealer, and this is a US model from B&H.

This price is $89 less than other authorized dealers.

eBay Frenzy: EOS 6D + 24-105mm (Import) for $1899 at BigValueInc

Another deal in the on-going eBay Deal Frenzy starts today! BigValueInc via eBay has the Canon EOS 6D with 24-105mm Kit for $1899.99. This is an import model but the listing says it comes with built-in GPS and WiFi just like the US model.

BigValueInc via eBay is a quite reliable and reputable unauthorized dealer who has been selling these cameras at low prices for the last couple years with few complaints heard from our readers. A Canon warranty is not guaranteed so the store is providing a store warranty.

Compare with $2499 at authorized dealers or $2239 authorized through our street price program. There is currently no Canon mail-in or instant rebate available for this camera.

eBay Frenzy: 5D Mark III (Import) for $2559 at GetItDigital

A new eBay Deal Frenzy starts today! GetItDigital via eBay has the Canon EOS 5D Mark III for $2559.99. It’s likely an import.

GetItDigital via eBay is not an authorized dealer. However, they are a reputable unauthorized dealer, the same store as AllNewShop. In the last few frenzies they’ve sold hundreds of 5D Mark IIIs for this price, and we’ve heard very positive reader stories (with issues being rare and resolved expediently).

If you don’t want to read our detailed article here is the summary of what “import model” means:

  1. Import / grey market items were items originally destined to be sold in a different region.
  2. They are manufactured at the same factories as US models, and are physically identical.
  3. Packaging (language on box) may differ from US retail versions.
  4. Although Canon USA has been traditionally lenient in providing warranty service, a Canon USA warranty is not guaranteed. An similar warranty is provided by the store itself.

Compare with $3199 at authorized dealers or $2899 authorized through our street price program. There is currently no Canon mail-in or instant rebate available for this camera.
