Seen on Kickstarter: Peak Design Capture v3, Slide, and Slide Lite

Featured Video Play Icon

Peak Design is at it again, they’ve launched an aggressive 5 Day Kickstarter campaign, their 7th: they have re-designed their popular Capture, Slide, and Slide Lite products.

First up is the Capture v3 ($55), a camera-carry clip that hooks onto almost any belt strap. They’ve improved it from previous versions, making it lighter, narrower, and stronger (now made out of anodized machined aluminum alloy). The Capture is $55 alone, or $70 with the Pro Pad which enables carrying larger or heavier rigs. Save about 20% vs retail.

The Slide ($50) and Slide Lite ($35) are quick-connecting, versatile, stable, and comfortable pro camera straps, one for DSLRs and one for mirrorless. They’ve been updated for improved comfort, durability, and aesthetics All hardware and materials have been updated for better comfort and smoother operation — enhanced silicon grips and connectors are some of the numerous changes. Save 25-30% vs retail.

Time is limited on this Kickstarter campaign — it expires in about three days. It’s already been funded to over 5 times the goal (now at $514,701), so this project is going ahead! These are great savings vs. retail. For example, the older Capture v2 at B&H is $59.95. This v3 on Kickstarter is $5 less!

Adobe Photoshop Elements 2018 has numerous new and enhanced features when compared to Elements 13, 14, or 15, including tools to automatically open closed eyes in portraits, as well as automatic background replacement. Canon Store: Refurbished EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II for $949 (25%-Off)

The Canon Direct Store is clearing out the refurbished EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM — it’s now available for only $949.99. This is a special price that is only available for two days (until November 7th at 11:59 PM), or while quantities last.

This represents a 25% discount from the regular refurbished price of $1279. We’re not surprised with this clearance price, due to the introduction of the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM and its availability as a refurb ($1759.20), but the older version for just over half the price is a fantastic deal. This is the lowest price we’ve seen yet for this lens.

Seen on Kickstarter: Wiral LITE Cable Cam System for $199

This looks really fun: the Wiral LITE Cable Cam via Kickstarter is a compact cable system that lets you setup cinematic long-pan film effects, using your DSLR, even in tight or indoor spaces where a drone would be inappropriate.

Setup is easy: you tie a rope between two secure locations, mount the cable cam, then direct its motion with a remote control. Top speed is a blistering 28 miles per hour, or it can go as slow as 0.006 mph — perfect for a time-lapse. It’s very affordable, at only $199, a fraction of the price of a drone, and $200 less than planned retail of $399.

The best part is (unlike drones) you can use your existing Canon SLR (via standard 1/4″ tripod mount) — up to 3.3 pounds, which is enough to support even a 5D Mark IV with a mounted 50L prime lens.

This one’s already funded to 2000% of their target with 11 days to go, so you can be sure this project is going ahead. An impressive 2,500 backers and $616,428 (and counting).
