don’t worry, the deals will keep getting better. And 504HD is too heavy for a DSLR. Its one of those things you buy and you leave at home 80% of the time. Its too big for a canon shooter unless you are using c100, or c300.
I ended up buying this, now kinda regretting it. I won’t be shooting any videos, will this be too heavy for shooting stills? Any other drawbacks? I still have time to cancel my order.

yeah, for stills i think this is gonna be on the heavy side(13 lb). Do you imagine yourself lugging around 13lb tripod for your long exposure shots, or time-lapse? No doubt, 504HD is a very good video head, but for DSLRs like 5d mark III, its an overkill.
You can either cancel it, or you can try it and always return it within 30 days. You can also sell it on Ebay and Craiglist. I’m sure lots of video guys will buy it from you, at that price. The head itself is 450$.
I just got mine yesterday and yes: too big and bulky. Anyone want to buy mine from me 😉
