EOS 5Ds and 5Ds R Available Mid-June; Street Price Pre-Orders

We’re hearing from our usual reliable sources that the long-awaited EOS 5Ds and EOS 5Ds R will be available for shipping by mid-June. This is only a couple weeks away, and earlier than the previously committed “end of June”.

Canon Direct Store — Many Refurbished Lenses Restocked

Many popular refurbished lenses were just restocked at the Canon Direct Store. See the refurbished stock tracker for full details.

As usual, many readers are notified immediately by e-mail of these restocks, by setting up an e-mail notification via our refurbished stock tracker.

Canon Mail-in and Instant Rebates Renewed Until July 4th

Canon USA has renewed the current set of mail-in and instant rebates on bodies and lenses. The rebates were previously set to expire on May 30th, but they have been renewed until July 4th. Check out the new mail-in rebate form — the rebate values are unchanged from the previous rebate session.

This means we continue to have some great street prices from authorized dealers on brand new bodies and lenses.

eBay Daily Deal: 5D Mark III (Import) for $1999 from GetItDigital

This hot deal is back: Get It Digital via eBay has the Canon EOS 5D Mark III for $1999.00. This is today’s eBay daily deal.

This is likely grey market / import, as Get It Digital via eBay is not an authorized dealer. As a result, a Canon USA warranty is not guaranteed (the store provides a warranty instead). Historically Canon USA has provided warranty service on grey market bodies anyway — but this is at the discretion of Canon USA, and can change at any time.

This retailer has been a reliable eBay seller based on eBay feedback and reader feedback. They’ve sold over 2000 bodies — most were at this price. We will caution that they have attempted up-sell calls (asking you to upgrade to a USA model for an extra fee). We recommend you stay firm and insist that they process your order at the $1999 price, there are no physical differences between import models and USA models, even though they may attempt to convince you otherwise.

For more details on grey market vs. USA model, you can read our FAQ on the topic here.

If you’d feel more comfortable with an authorized dealer and a guaranteed Canon USA warranty, check out our street price of $2239 from an authorized Canon USA dealer with a 1-year Canon USA warranty and great customer service.

20%-Off Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan: $7.99/month

Adobe is offering a great discount on the Creative Cloud Photography Plan. It’s now available at a price of $7.99 per month, a 20% discount from the regular $9.99 subscription price, on new sign-ups before the end of the month.

The Creative Cloud Photography Plan is an excellent way for photographers to get started with Lightroom and Photoshop. With it, you get access to the latest version of Photoshop, and the latest version of Lightroom for your desktop, mobile devices, and the web.

The newest version of Lightroom is fantastic — it’s much faster than Lightroom 5 (using the GPU to help offload some computation), and offers new HDR and Panorama merge features. With membership in the Adobe Creative Cloud you get access to new features as soon as they are available, without having to re-purchase software.
