eBay Daily Deal: 5D Mark III (Import) for $1999 from GetItDigital

This hot deal is back: Get It Digital via eBay has the Canon EOS 5D Mark III for $1999.00. This is today’s eBay daily deal.

This is likely grey market / import, as Get It Digital via eBay is not an authorized dealer. As a result, a Canon USA warranty is not guaranteed (the store provides a warranty instead). Historically Canon USA has provided warranty service on grey market bodies anyway — but this is at the discretion of Canon USA, and can change at any time.

This retailer has been a reliable eBay seller based on eBay feedback and reader feedback. They’ve sold over 2000 bodies — most were at this price. We will caution that they have attempted up-sell calls (asking you to upgrade to a USA model for an extra fee). We recommend you stay firm and insist that they process your order at the $1999 price, there are no physical differences between import models and USA models, even though they may attempt to convince you otherwise.

For more details on grey market vs. USA model, you can read our FAQ on the topic here.

If you’d feel more comfortable with an authorized dealer and a guaranteed Canon USA warranty, check out our street price of $2239 from an authorized Canon USA dealer with a 1-year Canon USA warranty and great customer service.

Not a scam, notice it’s import model. So no US warranty! Or any service through Canon if anything happens to it. What they call (grey market). If you can predict the future and know for sure that no accidents will happen it’s a sweet deal lol

Ummm…. Canon U.S. still will cover grey market; however there is no guarantee that they will continue to do so. It’s Nikon that refuses to cover grey market. There are tales all over forums that they won’t fix Nikon grey market even if paid.

Better off buying US for the extra few hundred and have that sense of security. Plus price drops are in order soon for the 5DIII as the 5DS & 5DSR are coming in a few short months and Canon is working on a MarkIIII for 2016.

There shouldn’t be any difference between the two models. Most likely, it was just an upsell call that you received. I would try to talk to them and get them to return to the $1,999 price.
