In the Canon world, many changes happened at midnight. Here is the summary of all the major Canon pricing changes:
- A new mail-in rebate on full-frame bodies.
- Permanent price drops on 26 Canon lenses.
- Now confirmed by a page at the Canon Direct Store. As of time of post they have a hilarious bug where everything currently has a price of $0.00. That’s right, free. Unfortunately everything is now out of stock. (Probably one of you readers!)
- The price drop also causes a refurbished price drop as well, as mentioned yesterday. Same price mistake bug on their site though, everything is free.
- Price drops have now happened at B&H and Adorama.
- The July mail-in rebates on lenses expired.
We have street prices on the 5D Mark III and 6D of $2699 and $1449 respectively. For the lenses that have had price drops, we will need a few days to figure out the new street prices, please stay tuned.
It may take a few hours for stores to show the new pricing.

Can we get some sale on the 6D refurb please 🙂
nice web shop refresh.
so if i get the 24-70 lens with the 5d, is that 200 rebate AND 250 rebate?
No. If you get the 5D Mark III + 24-70 f/4 as a *single kit box*, you get a single $200 mail-in rebate. The price dropped on that kit box $150 last night.
The 5D is not an eligible body on the $250 rebate. It’s only 6D/60D/7D/70D.
If you get the EOS 6D body, and then get a retail box 24-70 f/4 (you need retail box not white box as you need the UPC for rebate), you get a $200 + $250 mail-in rebate. The price on the retail box 24-70 f/4 dropped $500 last night to $999 MAP.
Confusing enough for you? 🙂
So if I get the 6D body and the 24-70 f/4. I get $200 rebate for the body and another $250 for the lens?
Yes. We will have a street price combo for both, very shortly.
So $1450 for the 6D and $750 for the 24-70 f/4 after rebate street price? If it is count me in.
Is the rebate good for refurbished too?
No. Only valid for purchases of brand new bodies from authorized Canon USA dealers.
why does it say 5D Mark III but download form specifically says KIT?
Anyone know?
This plus Best Buy’s 10% Reward Cash back for opening and paying off a card in 30 days – $2600 US from Best Buy.
Canon refers to the 5D Mark III body only as a “body kit”, it’s just their marketing.
Best Buy is $3399 less $200 rebate less 10% ($340) = $2860. Still above our street price.
6d and the 24-70 f4 are a great combo.
The Canon refurb store also has price drops. For instance, 24-70/4L IS for $750.
Please tell cannon to have a refurb sale again of the 6D pls. Its been months! 🙁
Also, something is wrong with your prices on the refurbed cameras. They do not correspond to the pricing on Canon’s website.
Add to cart to get the $50 discount that runs through the end of tomorrow. It’s the Canon Labor Day sale.
Are these rebates always just American Express reward cards, or were they ever just checks from canon you could cash at the bank?
Paul: You can refund the AMEX reward card to a check, or ACH to your bank account. It just takes an additional 3 weeks time after receiving the card.
ah ok, good to know. thanks.
If you can put together combo 6d+lens street price package (with rebate clearly indicated), that would be great.
Done — see the latest main page post.
