This weekend we saw a massive price drop for the Canon EOS 7D to $999.00 body only, which finally brings the new price more in-line with what the used market has been pricing this camera at.
The most overlooked deal is the Canon EOS 7D with 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Kit for only $1099.00. The lens regularly sells used for about $200 so this puts you sub-$900 for a brand new 7D, especially as B&H is throwing in 2% rewards.
This begs the question: is a 7D Mark II finally coming? Five years ago, when the 7D was first released, it made sense; but with the advent of $1500 full-frame cameras and a fantastic $1000 70D there’s no room in the current line-up for a high-end APS-C to differentiate — unless, of course, Canon really steps up with game-changing auto-focus and frame-rate. Eagerly awaiting their next step.
A 7D II is coming very shortly, with more than likely a digic 5 processor and more than likely a CF AND SD slot, or at least I hope…? Fingers crossed and holding my breath for this one’s youngest brother hopefully coming soon!
The 7D Mark II is already out, they just renamed it the 6D
Except not really.
The 7D is a phenomenal sports camera to lengthen the 70-200 without needing an extender. I have used both the 7D and 6D and I will say that the 7D is much closer to the 5D than the 6D is regarding feel, buttons, speed etc. The 6D may be full frame, but the 7D is the 5D’s little brother./
Hey I hope you’re right. My ex has the 7d and was a bit envious of my 5d mkII until I told her that she has the same build quality, weather sealing but with better autofocus system and way faster FPS. The 7d is quite long in the tooth however and should have been updated already but I’m worried they pulled another 60d with the 6d and released a successor that is in many ways inferior to the predecessor
