Adorama has the EOS 6D refurbished for $1299. Refurbished bodies come with a full 1-year Canon warranty.

This is a great price as this body is currently going for $1599 unauthorized or $1899 authorized (MAP). It is good to see that both refurbished deals and unauthorized deals still are live and well even with the new pricing policy.

[Update: Inventory is dropping fast. From about 32 when we first posted, to 25 as of now, one hour later.]

Was planning to get a 5d3 to pair with my 70d for safari. This is half as much. So confused at what to do :/

Hey thanks for the heads up on this one!, Definitively an offer I could not refuse, got in and my 6D coming.

Eric, I was on same boat, but at $1299.00 this camera is a steal. If you into action photography mainly, then go for the 5D, it has a better focusing system, but as far as picture image quality they are pretty much even, I got this 6D mainly for fashion photography, concert photography and portraiture, I already got a 70D and was thinking of the 5D for the purposes mentioned, but after much research I concluded I had to take this deal… Again, if you shoot sports, birds in flight, racing and that type of thing, got for the 5D, if not, take this deal…

Ya I want it for primarily wildlife and landscape. For landscape the 6D would be perfect. I’m concerned the limited AF system would limit me on wildlife (including BIF) too severely. I really wish canon would release an upgrade even if it was $200 that would upgrade the AF system to the 70D system at least.

I could probably deal with 4.5 FPS vs 6 but the AF is just so much weaker on the 6D

Is anyone getting the message “Sorry, the quantity of one or more items in your cart exceeded the available amount, The item was either removed or the quantity has been changed to the maximum amount available.”

I am really going to be bummed if this is out of stock. I was going to get this for my 2nd photographer for a wedding next weekend 🙁

    1. April 5, 2014 at 5:50 pm EDT

Joey, I just tried to check out a cart to see and yes, it looks like they sold out… I was lucky, I was right at my laptop when I got the heads up from CPW and got in on time, they didnt last long.

Yeah, they could be sold out now. I was watching the inventory get snapped up, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re all gone now.

But keep on trying. You never know when it might work again.

Eric, that is another reason why I didnt invest on a 5D, I also been waiting for un upgraded 5D with everything my 70D has but on a full frame, basically: Dual Pixel Focusing (excellent), Touch Screen, Articulated Screen, 7fps (or more), WIFI built in, but on a Full Frame. When that happens, I will sell my coming 6D and my 70D to buy the 5D “Mark IV”… For the time being, I am sure I will be very happy with the 6D, specially for only $1300 with a one year Canon warranty. glad I ordered in time, seems they selling out fast…

Canon will never add an articulated screen to the 5D because Canon indicated that it isn’t possible to weather seal effectively. Canon has stated that they want the 5D series to be the 2nd best weather sealed body in their lineup. So that’s why it will never get the articulated screen.

        April 6, 2014 at 12:08 pm EDT

Well, I would not take that Canon excuse to heart, The Olympus OM-D E-M5 has an articulated OLED screen and superb weather proofing, my point is the technology is available, just a matter of time before we have this very useful ergonomic option available in a full sensor Canon DSLR, and it doesn’t have to be the 5D, it is just bound to happen, it is just how soon…

Unfortunately my safari is October. I guess I can always wait and see what they announce 🙂 6D2? 5D4?

Bet I could get a dirt cheap 5D3 if they released a 5D4

Got a new 6D as a second body over the holiday for $1400 via amazon. Those of you on the fence about what body to choose might want to wait and see what deals come along for non-refurbed.

$1400 during holidays was great; not sure we’ll be seeing that price body-only again for sometime now as holidays are usually the lowest price, and now there’s that new MAP policy…

I have been going on this all day it still says in stock here and on the site but won’t add to a cart, does that mean its done but not been updated?

I am commenting to share my experience with 6D. I had a 40D for a long time, and when I got the 6D, the first impression was that the build quality is so cheap, even compared to 40D. However, the low light performance had blown me away.

I personally do NOT like the build quality of 6D at all. If you are fussy about build quality and have the money then go to a camera store and try both and then decide.

If I knew it, I would have waited to save more to go for 5D3. The camera is VERY quite when the shutter releases.

Your comment “the low light performance had me blown away” put a big smile on my face… If the build quality of the 6D is like the build quality of the 70D which I own (which I think it is), I will be fine with it, but, it is that image quality and low light performance that I am after, I could not get myself to spend the regular $1899 cost of the 6D a few months back when I decided to get the 70D, but then I found myself wanting the full frame and that low light performance for certain fashion photo situations. I think the 6D will fill that void until Canon finally gives us a much awaited upgrade to the 5D with all the current available technology, in the mean time, I will shoot away with the 6D and the 70D to make the wait shorter…

Sure. The 6D is considerably smaller than my 40 D–my friends say–its the same size of 60D. Good luck.

I did try one st best buy. I would agree that it feels cheap. What drove me nuts was best buy had no lens or body cap on the camera and just let the sensor stay exposed

6D is better build camera than 70D.I have 6D & 70D both ,I really don’t understand why people complain about build quality on 6D….

      April 6, 2014 at 9:00 am EDT

For a “$1900” camera I thought the control knob was cheap feeling. To be fair I think the 70d control knob is cheaper feeling than my 60d control knob as well

        April 6, 2014 at 12:25 pm EDT

I been happy with my 70D and the build quality seems ok, if the 6D is a better build quality then awesome. To me the image quality is number one, and honestly, as long as the body does not feel like if I am shooting with a sea urchin then I am fine, glad I am not picky about certain things, but I am picky with image quality…

Received mine, and the mirror has a fingerprint on it. Very disappointing. I thought refurbished meant canon inspects it and it’s as good as new?

That’s unfortunate. Most refurb bodies have been as good as new but occasionally we hear of something like this.

What are you planning on doing?

  17. Mark
    April 8, 2014 at 7:54 pm EDT

Most likely returning it. I haven’t tried it out, but I worry if it has a very obvious finger print on the mirror what else might be wrong with it. I’ve been told not to bother trying to clean a dslr mirror. I just bought a 24-105L refurb too also from adorama, and that had a scuff on front lens (which did wipe off no problem). Guess I should have learned my lesson, but I figured it had to be a fluke.

Hmm. It might be an Adorama refurb thing (vs. a Canon Direct Store refurb thing). I thought they were the same in the end but I guess maybe not? I’ll keep my eye out for any other issues people experience…

Mark, thank you for sharing your experience, it made me aware that this type of situation can and does happen. I will inspect my refurb thoroughly once I receive it. I thought this refurbs where done by Canon? I went on to read about this and supposedly Canon refurbished cameras ship from Canon directly so I went to check my tracking (2nd day UPS) and my 6D shipped from Philadelphia PA, and Adorama in in New York, perhaps Canon refurbished department is getting sloppy? Anyways, I also read Adorama return policy, and according to my findings they are good about this. Sorry to hear your bad experience and thanks again for letting us know here, please do report back if you decide to return it and how Adorama handled it for you, I never bought refurbished before, hope it is a positive experience for me….

        April 9, 2014 at 12:34 pm EDT

I called Adorama today. Their return policy is indeed pretty good — they sent me a pre-paid label to return it. However, they no longer have any refurb 6D bodies in stock, so I essentially lose out on this deal. In fact, he claimed they don’t expect to receive more 6d refurbs from Canon (“that’s showing as discontinued.”). Bummer.

I asked if it was really a Canon refurbished body, and mentioned the Canon web site claims refurbished bodies “must pass a comprehensive quality assurance inspection..”, and that I find it hard to believe that this would not be caught. He insisted that the body came direct from Canon’s refurb program, but really didn’t have much to say about my questions regarding poor QA.

Oh well, not Adorama’s fault, and assuming the return process goes well, I’ve only lost out on the deal. Hopefully others don’t run into similar problems. Starting to wish I took advantage of any number of the 6d deals over the past several months.

Needless to say, I’m once again interested in a CPW 6D Group Buy 😉

Mark, sorry to hear this but it is cool they refunding you. Check this our, type Getitdigital on Google, go to it, they have the 6D for around $1570 new US warranty, I was about to get one from them when I got the deal on the refurbs… Good luck!

Hey that’s great on the shutter count! I just checked the count on my fairly new 70D at EOSCount.com and I got 3435. Hope the count on my 6D is low as well, should get it later today.

  19. April 11, 2014 at 3:54 am EDT

Glad to report some good news here, I got my 6D, my first impression is, “this looks brand new”, the camera had a virgin look and feel to it, not a speck of dust, I checked the mirror, it was spotless, proceeded to put the battery on, battery was dead, but since I have a 70D which uses the same battery I put one of my spares in, put an SD card and started taking a few test shots around the house, everything works perfect.
I went to EOSCount.com and check the shutter actuations, it had 888, minus the 19 test shots I took and this camera had 869 shutter count, basically a new 6D. All accessories included brand new in sealed plastic bags. This “refurb” looks and feels new, smells new, I am happy, I am also loving the feel of the camera in my hands, it is slightly smaller than my 70D and it feels lighter as well, test shots where taken with my 50mm 1.4, blown away with the image quality of this full frame sensor camera, can’t wait to take some shots with my 70-200 IS II, all in all so far is been a positive experience with Adorama.
    Thanks CPW! 😉
