Here is a summary of all the currently active double-dip deals on Canon L lenses. Double-dip deals are ones where the retailers have lowered their prices by the amount of the current mail-in rebate, effectively doubling it. Generally the prices (after rebate) are some of the lowest we’ve ever seen in the years that we’ve been running this site, and we don’t expect to see any discounts beyond this.
As with all previous double-dips these prices are after mail-in rebate, and only seen at checkout. Many of these deals are active at B&H, which also provides an additional 4% reward.
I want a 85L one so bad, been waiting!
We’re waiting too! Set a notification.
I would also love an 85 – how do I set a notification??
You can read this page for the details: http://www.canonpricewatch.com/blog/get-notified/
Hopefully we will see more double dips. What is the estimated price on the 70-200 f2.8 IS II double dip?
If we get a full double dip on the 70-200 II it would be $1899 (after $300 rebate). We already saw this at Best Buy in the first day, it sold out quickly.
where is the double rebate? I only see one?
Double-dip deals are ones where the retailers have lowered their prices by the amount of the current mail-in rebate. When you add this item to your cart and start checkout, you’ll see the price drop at the retailer. e.g. regular price 50mm is $1619 – $180 rebate = $1439. However, when you checkout it drops to $1439 in cart, still eligible for $180 rebate = $1259.
That’s how it doubles.
Any idea if expired deals become active again? I came back to get a macro and that deal expired.
There’s a chance it’ll come back (possibly at a different retailer). You never know though — the 24-70 II deal everyone’s waiting for hasn’t come back; you need to decide quick on these things 🙂 If you setup a notification both on the lens and on the main page we will e-mail you when we see it in-stock at this price.
Act fast – I missed the 24-70 II 🙁
CPW,
These double-dip deals, especially on L lenses, have it happened before? If so, how long ago?
These are actually quite new! It’s been a long time since we’ve seen retailers discounting past the rebated price.
