eBay Grey: 1DX II $5000, 5DsR $2415, 80D $860, 70-200VC $729

The grey market deals are heating up before Black Friday — various eBay dealers have deals on Canon items as well as the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 VC lens. They are not authorized dealers and a Canon/Tamron USA warranty is not guaranteed. They are, however, reputable dealers with strong positive feedback. Please also consider deals from authorized dealers via our street price program.

Grey Market Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 VC for $799, Quickndone eBay

Quickndone via eBay has the grey market Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 SP Di VC USD for Canon for $799.99. This is the lowest price we’ve seen yet for this stabilized and fast lens, great value! Quantities are very limited.

Please note Quickndone via eBay is not an authorized Tamron dealer, so this does not come with a Tamron manufacturer warranty. Unlike Canon, Tamron is not known to service grey market items. You can add a 3-year SquareTrade warranty for $99 to your purchase, which will cover you in lieu of the manufacturer warranty.

Demos: EOS 5Ds for $3099, Tamron Lenses from CameraLand eBay

Authorized Canon and Tamron dealer Cameraland via eBay has a few great deals on demo items. They state in the listing: “This camera opened for an in-store demo event. It is in NEW condition, no actuations, supplied in the original box with all accessories and paperwork. Perfect condition. Never owned by a customer.” Tax is collected only to NY state.

Our readers report that when purchasing such “store demos” from Cameraland, the cameras or lenses were indistinguishable from brand new, with a full warranty, and eligible for rebates. Note that store demos are generally not restricted by manufacturer minimum advertised price policies.

They only have one of each of the following:

Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 VC $949 AR, 70-200mm f/2.8 VC $1179 AR

Authorized Tamron dealer Cameraland via eBay has the Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 DI VC USD for $949.99 (after a $100 mail-in rebate). This is the lowest price we’ve seen from an authorized dealer. Compare to $1199 after rebate from all other authorized dealers. They have two available at this price.

They also have the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 SP Di VC USD for $1179.99 (after $100 mail-in rebate). They also only have two available at this price.

Note their listing has condition “New (other)” and says “We had an in store demo and this was opened and shown at the event. It can pass for new”. Previous readers who have purchased on previous similar occasions received a lens indistinguishable from new and eligible for the mail-in rebate. They seem to have a limited quantity of these “demo” lenses available quite regularly.

New March $100 Tamron Rebate on 24-70 VC and 70-200 VC

Tamron has started a new $100 mail-in rebate on their very popular optically image-stabilized 24-70mm f/2.8 SP Di VC USD and 70-200mm f/2.8 SP Di VC USD. It makes the current price $1199.00 AR and $1399.00 AR respectively.

Savvy deal-finders (you’re reading this site, that means you!) will wait to see if Cameraland via eBay — they’re a Tamron authorized dealer — offers these lenses for $999 AR and $1199 AR respectively, as they did during the last rebate. Catch is, they only sell a few at this price, if at all. To get e-mailed when they are available, sign-up for a notification by clicking the “Notify” button on the lens pages (24-70 VC, 70-200 VC).

We’ve been asked: there are a few Amazon third-party sellers (notably “Photo4Less”) currently selling the lens for $999, are these eligible for the mail-in rebate rebate? The answer is no, Photo4Less is not an authorized Tamron dealer. However $999 is a pretty good deal if you don’t want to wait for a Cameraland sale and are willing to deal with Photo4Less for warranty. They have two left in-stock at this price.
