Amazon is taking pre-orders again for the EOS R5. Their site suggests that new orders will “usually ship within 2-5 weeks”.
As recently as Wednesday, the site was not taking orders at all for this highly in-demand camera. This update suggests they now expect new shipments to arrive over the next month and a half.
Several times today, the Canon Direct Store has briefly shown the Canon EOS R5 to be in-stock (at $3899.00). It only lasts for a few minutes each time before going back to “back-order”.
We don’t know if these are actual bodies available for purchase, or just another Canon Direct Store inventory glitch. (A lot of readers have complained that orders during the last sale ended up going to “backorder” a few days later.)
If you’re desperate for an EOS R5, you can try adding the camera to your cart at the Canon Direct Store, and reload until you see it “in-stock”.
Many readers have asked where they can find the EOS R5 in-stock. We expect there are no EOS R5 available for purchase at this time, unless you are willing to pay a premium to a grey market dealer.

Focus Camera (an authorized Canon USA dealer) is one of the first to add a significant pre-order bonus on the EOS R5. They’re now including a free 64GB SanDisk Extreme Pro CFexpress card ($110 to $150 value) when you pre-order at $3899.
We’ve yet to see other dealers add any bonus items to pre-orders. Focus Camera is a Canon USA authorized dealer, and as an added bonus, they don’t collect sales tax on purchased shipped to half the states.
