In light of their blockbuster deal on the 5D Mark IV, we’re getting a ton of questions about Samy’s Camera. We answer below.
Are they a reputable authorized dealer?
They are a Canon authorized dealer with multiple physical stores located in California. They’re a very reputable dealer founded in 1976, we’ve listed them before on our site. There should be no concerns about purchasing from this dealer.
What states do they collect tax to?
At this time, it looks like they collect tax to 30 states. There’s a handy estimator on their site where you can calculate the estimated tax owing based on your zip code.
What is this deal that everyone is excited about?
Samy’s has a super hot bundle of the EOS 5D Mark IV, a genuine Canon BG-E20 Battery Grip and a G-Technology 2TB HDD for only $1779.00 — you need to use coupon code “CANON399” to see the discount at checkout.
This is incredible because Canon just lowered the price on the body from $2499 to $1999. Samy’s is first discounting it an additional $220, then throwing in a BG-E20 battery grip (current retail: $200). If that’s not enough, they’re also including the free hard drive and 3% rewards ($54) towards a future purchase.
If Samy’s doesn’t collect tax to your state, this deal is a total no-brainer. If they do collect tax, it may still be the best deal, but there are a few other options to consider:
When will this deal expire?
We don’t know. The extra $500 Canon holiday rebate expires on the 24th, but there’s no knowing when Samy’s will end the coupon code or take away the free bonus battery grip. We really don’t expect these deals to last long, especially given how popular they’ve been.
