Canon Holiday Mail-in Rebates Extended to January 31st

Happy New Year! The Canon Store posted what appears to be a new rebate form on their website — it shows the current rebates being extended at the same values until January 31st.

This is great news, as we now have four more weeks to take advantage of the excellent Holiday prices and street prices. You also now have until March 2nd to submit the form for the current rebate — but don’t wait until the last minute.

Please note that this is actually a rebate extension, where they’ve changed the end-date, not a brand new rebate. This means you are still subject to the one-copy per item limit during the period (November 23rd – January 31st). For example, you can get a rebate on two different lenses, but you cannot get two rebates on the same lens, or do two printer bundles.

This is also a good time to remind our readers to check on the status of your recent rebate submission. Most readers have gotten rebates approved from Thanksgiving sales already.

EF 100-400mm IS II, Shipping Monday, Free 2-Day at Profeel eBay

The Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II continues to be a hot item that is out-of-stock at all major stores.

A major and reputable Canon authorized dealer, Profeel via eBay has this hot item available to ship on Monday, January 5th, for $2199.00. They are offering a free 2-day shipping upgrade exclusively to CanonPriceWatch readers. Quantities limited.

To take advantage of this offer, click through to Buy It Now on eBay (choose Free Ground shipping, mention “CPW 2-Day” in the comments, and you will be upgraded to 2-Day for free.) If you don’t want to use eBay, e-mail (sales at profeel.com) and ask about the CPW offer. The store is open tomorrow. (But please note the store could sell out tonight on eBay before processing e-mail orders tomorrow.)

Given what appears to be supply issues on this lens, we are not expecting a street price from US authorized dealers soon.

Street Price Specials: EF 16-35 f/4L IS $999 AR, 24mm IS, Extenders

We’re pleased to have one last street price special to round out the year. The following deals are limited quantity only and these prices are only available New Year’s Eve (or until sold out).

UPDATE: The problem with the street price form on the extenders has now been fixed!

All street price items are brand new from Canon authorized dealers with free shipping within the continental USA and a 1-year Canon USA warranty.

We still haven’t heard any updates on the next Canon mail-in rebate values, we don’t know if the current rebates will be extended or not. The following street prices are enabled by the mail-in rebates which expire January 3rd, 2015. Please order on Wednesday to ensure your order can get processed in time.

We’re glad street prices turned out to be a great hit in 2014, and we’re thankful to all of you for making this program a success. We’re looking forward to bringing you more great street price deals in 2015!

Conflicting Information on the Next Canon Mail-in Rebate

Yesterday, we posted leaked rebate values (from a reliable source) for the next Canon mail-in rebate. Those leaked values indicated a significant rebate drop (and thus effective price increase) after January 3rd, 2015.

After that post, we’ve had several other reliable sources contact us with conflicting information. Everyone has heard something different. One source explained the likely cause of confusion:

“The January rebate values aren’t final yet. It will either be the lowered rebate values that you posted, or something similar to the current rebate. A decision probably won’t be reached until Friday.”

We’ve modified our previous post to strike-through the previously leaked values, as we are no longer certain that they are correct. We think this is good news, as there is a chance the rebate values will be renewed at the current, we’ll update when more is known.

One thing we know for sure: the current exellent mail-in rebates expire on January 3rd. If you want to ensure you don’t miss out (in case there is no rebate renewal), please check out the street prices.

New Street Prices: Tamron 24-70 VC $1070 AR, 70-200 VC $1250 AR

We’re pleased to announce we’re expanding our popular street price program with more 3rd-party lenses over the next weeks!

Today, we’re excited to launch street prices on two very popular Tamron lenses, brand new from authorized Tamron USA dealers with free shipping, and a 6-year Tamron USA warranty.

These are excellent image-stabilized alternatives to the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM and EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM II if you don’t want to shell out $1699 AR and $1849 AR respectively for the Canon lenses.

There is currently a Tamron mail-in rebate of $100 that expires December 31st, please place your order before Wednesday to take advantage of this mail-in rebate.

Last Week for Canon Rebates, Next Rebate Values Leaked

UPDATE: We’ve had a few other reliable sources step forward to give conflicting information. It sounds like it’s still up in the air on what the next Canon rebates will be. Thus we are retracting our previous statement on the new rebate values. The only thing we are sure of at this time is the current rebates are scheduled to end on January 3rd, 2015. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.

The current Canon mail-in rebates expire on January 3rd, 2015. We now have more info on the Canon rebates that will begin on January 4th. We are told the most popular items will see a significant drop in rebate (and thus an effective price increase):

We are told almost all items will have their rebates slashed or eliminated altogether.

Historically, the November/December timeframe has been the best time to buy Canon, as we see the largest rebates of the year. True to our predictions the Canon Minimum Advertised Price remains strongly enforced and we don’t expect prices to change in the next week. Check out our great street prices.

To be eligible for the current mail-in rebate, purchases must be made before January 3rd, 2015. You don’t need to receive your purchase by then, it just has to be ordered by that date. You have until February 3rd, 2015, to mail your rebate claim form.
