Amazon has a fantastic deal on the EOS R8 — it’s available for $949.00, sold by Amazon proper, not a third-party, so a 1-year Canon USA warranty applies. According to the “price history” button on Amazon, this is the lowest price in the last year for this camera (brand new).

Being sold by “Amazon proper” doesn’t mean anything, unfortunately.
Amazon uses a process called “Inventory Commingling”, which means they mix first and third party stock into one big pool, which gets drawn from indiscriminately regardless from whom you buy from.
I’ve gotten counterfeit textbooks, memory cards, and even toothbrushes — all “Amazon proper” too.
And that’s not counting anything used/opened that was sold “as brand new”. That’s an entirely different problem on top of this.
