B&H DealZone: Peak Design Everyday Messenger 13″ V2 for $119.95

Today’s B&H DealZone (one-day deal) features the Peak Design Everyday Messenger 13″ Version 2 for $119.95. Two colors are available. This is the “Version 2” of this bag (not the “v2” of the bag — confusing).

This is a very popular bag, and it’s a terrific price, at a $100 discount from the regular price of $220. This deal is today only or until sold out.

This is actually not the Everyday Messenger v2, which was introduced in 2019. This is the updated version of the v1 bag, that added the luggage strap on the back, hence the “Version 2.” The telltale differences is the stitch pattern on the front of the v1 bags (vs none on the v2s) and the squared off corners on the v1 bags (vs the rounded corners on the v2).

I own the original version of the 13″ EDM (v1 Version 1, without the luggage strap) and it is a very nice bag. So nice in fact, that I use it solely for business purposes. And in my opinion, I like the look of the v1 EDMs much more that the v2s.

In the Q&A session, it says “At this time, (04/2020) the Photo of the Peak Design Everyday Messenger 13″ Version 2 (Charcoal), is not the actual photo of the Version 2 that will be shipped to the customer.” So maybe it is indeed the V2 bag? I also like the look of V1 better.

B&H always maintained separate listings for the v1 and v2 bags. And on the v1 bags, you had the choice between picking the Version 1 or Version 2 of each size of bag. B&H also had this in the product description:

“Updated V2 features (May 2018): Luggage pass-through on the rear panel, upgraded FlexFold dividers, more durable fabric on small internal pockets, and upgraded weatherproofing treatment to the exterior shell.”

So that answer in the Q&A likely refers to the Version 1 bag, as by April 2020, Peak had started a massive sale on all of its products (except the tripod & tripod accessories), and a massive clearance on all in-stock Everyday Version 1 products. I’m willing to bet that that may have been referring to the v1 Version 1 bags, which had a deeper discount than the v1 Version 2 bags.
