If anyone is waiting on a back order for the 28-70 from last year, you should call Canon right away and try to convince the CSR to send you one while it’s still in stock. Don’t believe the wait your turn excuse. They are apparently not fulfilling back orders on reburbs their own. I was successful with the last restock a few weeks ago by calling.
oh well, I tried!!
I had this same problem last year, and was told by a Canon CSR that you can’t backorder refurb items that aren’t in stock. You will be waiting forever.
One day I got a coupon email from Canon for 10% off the 28-70…which was $300 off, same price as this ghost refurbished. Sign up for their emails!
This makes me so MAD, I have been waiting on the RF 28-70 I ordered refurbished since December. And every single time a posting of this deal happens it is just perfect timing, late in the afternoon, just when the Canon Direct Store is getting ready to close. By the time I see these posts I am always too late to be able to call.
I’d be willing to give the owner of this website $50 cash to give me a 5 minute heads up so I could call and get the lens, which should be mine, Canon has been selling to other people for the last 6 months now.
This is so utterly infuriating!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’d recommend setting up an “Advanced Price Target Alert”. Click the link to our RF 28-70mm page, then in the yellow box, click the price target alert link. You can get notified the instant our system detects it as in-stock (choose the third option only). This is the way to get the fastest notification possible. The post (and corresponding watchlist notifications) always takes an extra 5 minutes at a minimum, as a human is involved. 🙂
