Just talked to a Canon rep, 28-70 is another ghost restock. No actual inventory on hand. I’ve still got an order from November 2020 waiting to fulfilled. They gave no estimate on when an actual restock would come. 🙁 I had my fingers crossed too.

Thank you for the information. I have an order from December so it looks like it will be a long time for me.

I had been calling periodically on my 28-70 on back order since December and have gotten several different stories from Canon reps, including that there were not very many coming in and I need to wait my turn. A previous poster commented several weeks ago that they called during an earlier restock and was able to get a “new” order placed for shipment. I called early on June 2 when I saw the restock notice from CPW. The rep spoke to his supervisor who agreed to fulfill the order and I now have a tracking number. This rep told me they don’t fulfill back ordered refurbs, so it you want your lens it may require some direct action early on when they get more in stock. A similar issue seems to apply to new lenses as I also needed to track down my RF800 back order from March that the website showed to be in stock. The chat rep told me the order went to a warehouse with no stock (??) and that I need to place the order again so it could be sent from a warehouse with stock. Also now shipping, but Canon fulfillment is a fiasco!

I’m sorry but I do not understand what you actually received. Did you get a refurbished 28-70 or a brand new 28-70?

I totally agree Canon is totally unorganized.
