EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM Now $1899 at Amazon (reg. $2099)

Amazon has lowered the price of the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM to $1899.00, down from a regular price of $2099 seen at other authorized dealers. They seem to be the only dealer showing this discounted price, and we don’t know why!

Want to share a pair of Amazon horror stories, both from the last month or so. I ordered both a Tamron 24-70mm F2.8 G2 and a RF 50mm F1.8 from Amazon, both sold and fulfilled by Amazon. The Tamron lens was put in a box with no packaging material, so it was just tumbling around in there with nothing holding it in place. I sent it back without even opening it, because that was not acceptable to me, and they contacted me to say “this was not in the condition it was in when we sent it to you”. Well, duh, but I never opened it so your lack of packaging is to blame on that one. The 50mm was placed in a bag, not a box, not even a padded envelope, a bag. It was the equivalent of a trash liner that had been taped shut on one end. I also sent that back without opening it, but I at least put it in a box with some padding to hold it in place. Just disrespectful. I have a feeling the Amazon warehouse workers are getting fed up, and just don’t care anymore. I even read somewhere that one of the warehouses has called for a union vote.

Sorry to hear your horror story with Amazon. I never order any high value items especially electronics from amazon (only exception is if it is sold and shipped by known stores like Adorama, focus camera, etc.) because amazon sends used customer returns as new to me at least once a year. They do that with not only electronics but pretty much everything. If I suspect it is an used customer return I simply return it except in 2 situations (not electronics) where I desperately need the items and had no time to return and re-order so kept them. I always go with street price for Canon stuff and if I find any better deals with Adorama, B&H, focus camera, etc… I just buy from them. We have 6% sales tax where I live so B&H’ Payboo card is better than the 5% with Amazon prime anyways.
