That 28-70 is so elusive. Last time I tried to order it, my receipt said “in stock,” but it ended up being back-ordered. I gave up after 2+ months had gone by and canceled my order. Now, every time one of these comes in, it’s gone immediately. ugh!
Agreed. The CPW listing above shows “1 In Stock”, but the Canon web site shows it is backordered. Given that it is 28-70, f/2.0, and at a great price, I can understand the demand!

I just ordered it. I’m not sure every thing is fine though. In first attempt, it did show me “item not available”. In second attempt, the order went through, and got an email for the order. I suspect they may not be able to fill my order though..
So did I, and it was in stock on my receipt (again), now my order says backordered (again). I was not meant to have this lens LOL!

I feel your pain! I was just thinking, perhaps they are filling a queue of prior backorders, and since only one of these comes in at a time, we are just getting added to that list.
I was on the backordered list for 35mm. I called customer care, they said my order was in blocked status, not sure what that means. However, eventually got my order through and received credit card charge notification and also the order status is showing inventory fulfilled. Hopefully will receive the lens early next week.
