Street Price: RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM for $2449, No Tax Collected

The most popular RF lens street price is the RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM for $2449.00, from an authorized Canon dealer. It comes with a 1-year Canon USA warranty, free shipping, and no sales tax is collected by the dealer. You can also add a LP-E6N battery to your order for only $39.

We’re always amazed at how much smaller and lighter this lens is, when compared to its EF equivalents. If there’s any one lens that is worth upgrading when you make the move to RF, this is the one! There is limited quantity as this great price.

I just got this lens last week and it’s so true. It was hard to justify buying this lens at first since I have the EF version already. But this thing is so freaking light and especially light with no adapter required. I always hated dragging around the EF lens. But this thing will go everywhere with me now. And its much smaller to fit in my bag. I love it!!!

I agree. I’m about to buy this (same store where I got my R5 and 24-105, I think–(finally arriving Monday!!) and use Chase (5% off if use PP- up to $75. no tax.) I am keeping my EOS bodies and lenses, but it will be nice to have two lenses that won’t require the adaptor….gotta wait till 10/1 to save the $75.. works with my Discover Card too…

PS: You really don’t need the tripod mount collar. When you get the lens, remove it right away. It’s not needed and just adds bulk.

Except when doing long exposure photography, Eric. I’d rather have the system mounted to the lenses tripod mount.

“If there’s any one lens that is worth upgrading when you make the move to RF, this is the one”. Well, that depends. In regards to size and weight, yes. In regards to IQ, according to TDP, it is virtually identical to EF. The one big IQ upgrade going from EF to RF is actually the 50 f/1.2.

I was mostly referring to size & weight.

Makes sense. It’s hard to improve on the 70-200 II.. unless the new lens is parfocal….

Got this lens about a month ago through you guys after initially buying version 3(EF) first. Let me say, hands down the size and weight alone are insanely worth the near 1000 price difference. But also, the autofocus is the fastest autofocus I’ve ever seen in a Canon lens. It beats the Ef version hands down. Lastly, image quality, the Ef and and RF are definitely similar but the RF does edge the other out, especially wide open. It’s just a better lens and if this is your job you should use tools that make your job easier.
