Several times today, the Canon Direct Store has briefly shown the Canon EOS R5 to be in-stock (at $3899.00). It only lasts for a few minutes each time before going back to “back-order”.
We don’t know if these are actual bodies available for purchase, or just another Canon Direct Store inventory glitch. (A lot of readers have complained that orders during the last sale ended up going to “backorder” a few days later.)
If you’re desperate for an EOS R5, you can try adding the camera to your cart at the Canon Direct Store, and reload until you see it “in-stock”.
Many readers have asked where they can find the EOS R5 in-stock. We expect there are no EOS R5 available for purchase at this time, unless you are willing to pay a premium to a grey market dealer.
According to a rumor posted over at CanonRumors, due to the overheating issues on the R5, the next shipment of the cameras may not happen until November as Canon works out the hardware and software issues. Whatever the case, this is something for people to consider if they want an R5. Either get it now, or be prepared to wait.
This is just a rumor and Canon USA has denied it. I’ve heard there will be regular shipments, well before November. Supply is still low relative to the demand, so yes, buy it now (or join a preorder list) if you want it.
When an order in the warehouse is fulfilled it shows up as in stock until it is finalized in the system. That is why it was changing this weekend.
