Major Dealers will Collect California Sales Tax Starting April 1st

Unfortunately, the out-of-state tax loophole will be closing shortly for California. Many out-of-state retailers will collect California state sales tax on purchases shipped to California, starting on April 1st of this year. Unfortunately, this is expected to included many major photography dealers, and some (but not all) of the dealers available through our street price program.

As this tax is a minimum of 7.25%, California residents are encouraged to purchase immediately prior to the change. Please consider our street prices from authorized Canon dealers, which at this time, do not collect tax on purchases shipped to California.

      At this time, no change to Canadian dealers. But this is always subject to change as the tax rules evolve.

      I can confirm that B&H will begin charging sales tax on items shipped to California as of April 1st.

    It looks like any out-of-state retailer with at least $100,000 in sales or 200 transactions in the current or preceding calendar year will be obligated to collect sales tax:

    Since B & H start collecting sale tax in New Jersey, I have taken my business else wear!! they lost over 10K
