B&H Photo Video is discounting the Gura Gear G Elite G26 Pro Camera Backpack (Charcoal) — it is now only $139.95 (save $220 from the regular price of $360).
This is a very large and fully-featured camera backpack that can hold multiple professional DSLRs, with or without L-brackets, with super telephoto lenses up to 500mm.
Do you know if this is a genuine Gura backpack made with the same quality and materials before Tamrac and Gura merged? I could not find much information or reviews on the G26 or the G32. I went to the Tamrac and Gura sites and those models were nowhere to be found. B&H is the only one that carries them and they carry more expensive non-discounted Gura backpacks. Are those better? Thank you.
The Gura Gear Kiboko 2.0 bags that B&H is carrying are, as far as I am aware, currently exclusive only to B&H. They are meant to be a reintroduction of the popular former line. Keep in mind though, the Kiboko series was a step below the Bataflae series. The Tamrac/Gura Gear G-Elite series was meant to be an update to the Bataflaes, and was the flagship bag of the merged companies. So the G-Elite is, technically speaking, superior to the B&H Exclusive Kiboko 2.0.
Thank you.
I found this on a 2015 article that appeared on FStoppers. It confirms that the G-Elite series is the updated Bataflae series.
“The first two bags introduced under the Tamrac G-Elite name are the G32 and the G26. These bags are an updated version of the Gura Gear Bataflae backpacks that incorporate a unique “butterfly”-style design for accessing your equipment….The G-Elite bags will use new materials reinforced by Dyneema, which according to Tamrac is the world’s strongest fiber that is also used in body armor, climbing equipment, and parachute suspension lines.”
