Today’s B&H DealZone (one-day deal) features the Adobe Photoshop Elements 2019 (DVD/Download Code, Mac and Windows) for $64.99 — save 35% from the regular price of $100.
This is “pay-once” software which is an excellent alternative to subscription software such as Creative Cloud.
As a Lightroom 6 user, I use elements when I need to go beyond regular adjustments and head more in a compositing/graphic design direction using layers. It also corrects verticals much better than Lightroom for some reason. Don’t view this as a low-end product – It does everything you’d want to do in Photoshop.
Even though I use lightroom I’ve thought about grabbing a copy of this just to check it out. Lot of newbies ask me what is the difference and I can’t really answer. I usually tell them try something free first like gimp, but that program might be a little too much for a begginer. This, I imagine, would be simpler to learn, and probably offers enough tools for them to work with. I’d just like to check it out, and this would be a good price to do that.
Does it import all of Canon latest Raw files ? I have a older version that does not like my 80D, having to use Adobe converter is inconvenient.
It uses camera raw 10, which covers your 80D. For other cameras, see this table by Adobe: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html#
