EOS R Preorder Price Mistake? EOS R + RF 24-105 Kit for $3199

UPDATE: Amazon has now matched and is also showing a $3199 price. This is likely not because the rebate is real, but likely just a straight price-match of a competitor.

B&H Photo Video lowered the pre-order price on the Canon EOS R with RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM Kit to $3199.00 (a $200 savings from the original price of $3399). Their website is showing a $200 instant rebate on this item — except, we think that might be a mistake. A $200 rebate started on the EOS 5Ds R, and we think it was mistakenly applied. Competitors’ sites — such as Adorama or Amazon — are not showing the same discount.

This is a pretty good opportunity to try to save $200 on this pre-release item — if they will honor the price. Note that B&H online checkout closes today (Sunday) at 6:30 for a holiday observance.

Looks to be on purpose. In my notifications on B&H it says the deal is specifically for the Canon EOS R w/24-105 and that the deal ends in 6 days.

Those notifications likely auto-generated. I just confirmed (saw the Canon official instant rebate list), this is definitely not on the rebate list and thus an error.

Even B&H did not receive many pre-orders for the EOS R as anticipated due better offers by other competitors.

Nice little savings, I kind of figure Canon is going to offer a similar rebate eventually on this camera, as per their usual agenda. Also, want to point out the 24-105mm R is nano-USM, making it more ideal for video than the EF versions. So glad to see they are still using this great focusing system, as I loved it in the other 2 lenses it is featured in.

Price shows $3399 on both sites now. All well.
