    *Slow clap*

Canon has finally heard the masses! But a few things to point out, and they are important. To start with the most important, I jsut read on dpreview that dual pixel is not available in 4k (contrast detect), which might not matter too much given its price point. But if it used dual pixel in 4k, then I would think this would become one of the best selling 4K video DSLR’s out there. It still might at that price. Also of note, it is a heavy crop of 1.6X in 4K, and I think that is on top of the crop it will already have, which I assume is 2X. It also looks like the battery might be a bit smaller than competitors, and we all have seen what that can mean for a mirrorless camera…

They are saying something about a new kind of sensor that works with the IS system in the lenses for improved stabilization. That could be exciting. The eye detect AF, if it works, can also be exciting. Just period, this camera is exciting, becasue it kind of foreshadows future offerings. Canon is still slated to announce a full frame mirrorless, not to mention the 7DmkIII this year. For all our sake and Canon’s, I hope that in those models 4K is there, and that they include dual pixel AF on them. Dual pixel is the king of AF right now, and a 4K camera with it will pretty much rule the market provided that the video quality can compete at least well enough with the competition. The M50 is meant to be an entry level camera, so I am hoping that is why they left dual pixel out, not because some technical limitation.

Native crop is 1.6, not 2x. And the 4K crop is on top of the native crop. Another thing I missed, it has 10FPS burst! Suck it Sony! LOL
