Adorama and B&H are clearing out the EOS 6D. Adorama is offering the camera (brand new) bundled together with an Extreme PRO SDHC 32GB UHS-I 95MB/s, shoulder bag, and other accessories (including an intervalometer) for only $999.00.
B&H has a similar deal with 32GB SanDisk Extreme, 3rd party bag and battery, and 4% reward towards a future purchase. The price is the same $999.00. Alternatively you can get it with free Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan 12-month subscription.
Adorama also has a bundle of the EOS 6D with 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Kit with the same accessories for $1399.00, B&H has a similar deal as well.
Sad to see this body being phased out. It’s served me well for 4 years.
Will probably serve you well for the next 4 years too. The 6D is a good camera, and gives full frame options to people with smaller budgets that are not paid pros. I feel it is still a relevant camera for those that have one; it took great photos before and it still does now. It’s jsut time for it to go; the mkII is here and not to mention the offernings from other companies are getting to be pretty good. A lot of people bought the mkii over the holiday, in spite all the trash talk about it year round.
We live in an age of information, where I feel the real world possibilities of things are ignored in favor of raw specs. “The DR is lacking” is an argument you hear a lot these days, but realistically many people don’t know how to use the full range anyway, and cameras with 11+stops of DR were like god mode cameras not that long ago. For so many it will never matter. For those that do, well that is why they keep making things with better specs and more expensive…

Which one is better? And you think there’s return policy?
The accessories are irrelevant so it doesn’t matter. Both stores have the same return policy.
I don’t know about mail order. But if you buy it in the store there is a return policy. I’m sure its the same but double check
Okay. And how long will this sale last?
Also, I got someone offering a 5d3 for 1600 with only 6k clicks… But no warranty…
And someone said b&h has new 5d3 for 1900. I’m kinda taking ur advice on maybe skipping the 6d. Maybe worth 500 more for the 3.
It’s def worth paying a bit more for the 5d3
And how many clicks is too many for the 5d3?
I think the 5D is rated to 100,000 on the shutter, most their cameras are. It’s usually not too big a deal as they are all built to last a long time.
Something advertised with only 5,000 clicks may sound barely used. Until you realize they probably used it primarily for video
And that’s bad? Like as bad as clicks?
It’s also wear and tear
Got it. Thank you for the help! I’m gonna buy a 5d3 this week… Just hope I choose the right one.
Good luck
So for the guy contemplating a 5D3 or 6D, here is a breakdown.
Both are full frame. The 5D has more resolution (barely), but both have similar quality if used with the same glass. 5D has weather sealing and 6 FPS burst vs no sealing and 4FPS. 5D has 61pt AF with 41 cross type, the 6D has 11pt AF with 1 pt cross type. 5D has twin slots, 6d one. 5D has headphone jack 6D doesn’t. 6D has wifi and gps, 5D doesn’t. Both have about the same low light performance.
I would say the 5D is a better camera all around, but if you aren’t shooting a lot of action based shots, the 6D might be just as good. The built in wifi is pretty cool as it lets you connect your phone to it, and landscape shooters like to have that GPS. If you are doing mostly portraits and landscapes, the 6D will work just as well for a lower price. If you plan to shoot sports and/or wildlife, the 5D is a much better camera. 5D3 is better for video.
If you are worried about buying used, then there is a deal right now for a 5D3 for 2000 USD on the main page of cpricewatch.
Chase Fetters buy the 6d and you’ll have an extra $1000 for lenses. 24-105 and a 17-40
Are you thinking the 24-105 f/4L or the kit one f3.5/5.6?
1000 bucks isn’t going to get you a lot of glass for the full frame cameras. The 24-105mm F4L is going to set you back too much to still be able to afford the 17-40mm too, unless you find some really good used deals somewhere.
Something to keep in mind when “upgrading” to full frame is that if you don’t have lenses to put on it, then the lenses they use are much more expensive in most cases, especially at the wide end. Another thing I would wonder is what are you going full frame to do? If not to get a shallower DOF for portraits or better low light performance, then it might be a better idea to invest in some lenses first. It just depends on why you want to do it. If just becasue you see it as an inevitable upgrade, then it might be a lot of money to not accomplish anything more than you already can with comparable glass on an APS-C.
