UPDATE: Both lenses are now sold out with no backorders available. Deal is expired. Congrats to all readers who got in on this crazy deal! Nikon and Pentax mounts are still available.
The Irix 15mm f/2.4 Firefly and Irix 15mm f/2.4 Blackstone are third party lenses, quietly announced in 2016, to many decent reviews (including The Digital Picture and Northlight Images). The overall conclusion was that at the regular prices of $475 and $575, you get a decent value lens for the price you pay.
Today, Amazon has both lenses for a whopping 70% off. Click “70% off 1 item(s)”, then “Redeem”, prior to adding the item to your cart. You’ll see the discount at checkout.
Note the lenses are sold by Irix USA, but fulfilled by Amazon. The Irix 15mm f/2.4 Firefly is $142.48 and the Irix 15mm f/2.4 Blackstone is $172.48. A total steal for lenses of this quality and construction!
The difference between the Firefly and the Blackstone appears to be just build quality (with the Blackstone sporting an all-metal build exterior). Optically, the two lenses look to be the same. Please note that these are manual-focus lenses, but support electronic focus confirmation.

We can’t imagine this deal will last very long. It appears to be some sort of clear-out.
Lasted so short it was gone by the time this posted
This is what happens when we post a deal to our tens of thousands of readers. I was watching them go…
That was fast; both lenses are now out-of-stock but backorders are taken with Amazon currently reporting an in-stock date of January 26th (Friday).
I’m not even seeing that.
Looks like backorders for Blackstone are now gone. Backorders for Firefly still available.
Matthew Pionk
Already gone.
UPDATE: Backorders for Blackstone are no longer available. Firefly is sold out now, but backorders are available (for a short time).
UPDATE: Now both lenses cannot be backordered. Deal is dead.
Nikon and Pentax mounts are still available.
Looks like it’s gone already. Nothing sold by Irix listed under either of those links.
incredible deal. not even 15 minutes.
Did you get one?
Nikon is gone now too
Some sort of pricing mistake?
Yeah I was like it’s gone
For that price, these might have been the cheapest way to get an astro lens I’ve seen. Wasn’t really looking for one, but for 150 bucks I’d give it a shot. Sorry I missed out.
What a find cpw.
What time zone are CPW posts?
We are in the Eastern Standard Time Zone.
Bill Howard.. dang.. did not see this in time.. by time i read this.. all lens were gone.. i checked for Nikon and they were gone too.. poster said all were gone in 15 minutes.. heck, i would’ve purchased another 11 & 15mm just to have as backups
Jeff Wiegel – we missed a very good deal.

Brianne Colling
Tyler Evert
Sam Clausen!!
So sad I missed these… it seems like too much of a price drop though. Have those of you who ordered gotten it yet? It feels like a pricing mistake more than a sale.
Set up a Honey alert
Aw, sad to miss out on this, but relieved that it seems I would’ve missed it anyway. T_T
