Hot: Refurbished 6D Mark II + 24-105 STM $1299, M6 + 18-150 $499

The Canon Direct Store has a great last-minute deal on 3 popular refurbished camera kits. Free overnight shipping is included if ordered before 12:30 PM ET on Thursday.

These are absolutely incredible prices. The EOS 6D Mark II with 24-105 STM Kit for $1299 is $100 less than the body-only refurbished price, and it includes a $300-400 lens. The EOS M6 + 18-150mm for $499.99 is a steal!

80D 18-55 and 55-250 bundle was available for $649. But when I checked as soon as I got the notification email- it was already OOS.

That is hands down one of the best deals this season! Even though I already have it, I think I would get that deal to replace my T3i as my second camera. Plus, I don’t have the 55-250mm IS STM, and I have been wanting to get one, but was waiting for a good bundle deal. Too bad it’s sold out everytime I look!

6dmkii. There is a reason it is so cheap now.

I’ve been waiting for an entry-level FF camera from Canon. I can deal with the lack of 4K video, even though I often do shoot video. But the use of Canon’s older sensor technology, rather than the new sensor with better DR and noise control, is a disappointment. To me the 6D2 isn’t worth the cost of the marginal (if any) improvement from the 80D. So I found a good, used Sigma 50-150/2.8 OS to address the lens gap between 17-55 and 70-200 and will carry on with the xxD line in the hope that, maybe, the 6D3 will be the camera I expected this year.

      1. December 22, 2017 at 4:01 pm EDT

Mark, I am guessing you meant 50-100mm F1.8? If so, then your plan is fairly solid. I love my 17-55mm F2.8, but action in low light is still tough even with that lens, at least not without a lot of noise. The Sigma F1.8’s are looking pretty inviting, and even though they are expensive, they are still cheaper than going full frame at this point.

Same reason I will not upgrade šŸ™‚

Kevin Dahlen maybe read the reviews it wasnā€™t really improvement over the first version

    6. December 21, 2017 at 4:00 pm EDT

Kevin Dahlen I currently have an 80D and also was looking or thinking about getting a FF. As good as the deal was on the6DMark ii I still had hesitation. Thought about going into debt and getting the 5D Mark four. Maybe for now Iā€™ll just wait to see what comes out the beginning of the year in crop sensors

    7. December 21, 2017 at 4:45 pm EDT

Kevin Dahlen Brief statement sure.. Salty… *LOL*.. It’s still a good camera at this price. If sales were strong on the 6DMKII , you would not see sales and discounts like this. I was just release this year ..Body only $1999… Quite a discount already. I have no Canon secrets *LOL* .

Would have rather gotten this deal than the recent one with rebate. Could use the lens a lot more than the printer and battery grip.

    1. December 21, 2017 at 5:06 pm EDT

Sell printer, sell battery grip, buy lens. It’s not the 24-105 F4L, it’s the much cheaper F3.5-5.6 IS STM.

Thanks for all the bad reviews and bias comment, I can get my 6D2 much earlier than I would have expected. And I love it very much indeed.

I tried for 45 minutes and finally got 1, it shipped today. The silver 18-150 is in stock call Canon and ask them if they will do that combo instead! Good luck!

Really insane deals! The 80D deal (not listed here) was especially good, but it was OOS šŸ™ I would have gotten one as a backup for my 7DII. The 7DII deal is very good too, but I don’t need another one.

Courtesy of stupid canon and my bank I lost my 6D2 24-105 package deal. I placed one order for a 80D kit and the 6D2 kit. Canon says since they are shipping from two different locations they submitted the charge in 2 different transactions apparently with in minutes. The fraud detection system let the first small charge go through but declined the second large purchase. Bank called me to make sure I made the 80D purchase and also to let me know that the charge for 6D2 was declined. I called up canon a very friendly representative tried to help me out but since the 24-105 is out of stock rep could not do anything about it.

      Itā€™s in-stock again.

  20. December 21, 2017 at 9:04 pm EDT

Damn it, that deal for the 7D II is tempting. I would love to replace my 7D although with the 7D Mark III rumored to be coming, maybe I should wait anyway.

The deal for the 6D II with the 24-105 STM lens is good too. I tried that lens out and it was pretty good and light. Half of me wished I didn’t take the earlier 6D II deal…

Have an 80D that I really enjoy but got a refurb 6D2 body at a net price thatā€™s only $300 more after selling the 80D and 24-105 STM lens Assuming 80D and 6D2 are about equal in features, made sense to me to go with the newer model for the $300 difference. Have 3 EF L lenses so thatā€™s not an issue either. Thoughts?

    1. December 22, 2017 at 3:53 pm EDT

It depends on your intended uses. I personally think the “need” to go to full frame is if you are trying to shoot fast shutter in bad lighting and if you want to do portraits as more than a hobby. Those are the two biggest advantages full frame offers over APS-C, due to the the tight pixel density of crop sensors, and lack of good EF-S lenses to bridge the gap. If you will be shooting in good light, the 80D actually beats the 6D2 for action, but only just barely (7fps v 6.5 fps, 1/8000 max shutter vs 1/4000). The 80D even has a little better dynamic range, but it’s not enough to really get excited over (except that the 6D2 is a FF, and Canon should be embarrassed by that fact). I think where the 6D2 really fails though is the AF focus points. 45 points of AF and they are all clustered in the center. That is going to make composition a challenge, and in my opinion is what takes the camera off my list of worthy upgrades. The 80D even features a headphone jack that the 6D2 does not. These things do not mean it is not usable though. It really depends on your intended use. I personally am saving for a 5D instead, or if that takes too long, wait to see the future offerings of Canon (7DIII is next year I think). But don’t buy all the negative hype. If it will work for you and it’s what you can afford, then ok. My motto is make the best photo you can afford to make.

Kevin, yes use is one of two reasons I went to the 6d2 over the 80Dā€™s. The new 6d2 is under warranty for a year and the 80d was out of warranty. But the use reason is about my 3 L zoom lenses. With the 6d2 my lens total range is from 16mm to 300mm. With cropped 80d the effective lens range was 25.6mm to 480mm. I think I will use the extra wide angle (16mm to 25.6mm) a whole lot more than I miss using 300mm to 480mm.

I hope this will help somebody, it sounds like canon is not only incompetent with their products lately now they seems to be incompetent with their online sales, order management, and customer support as well. Summary ā€“ If you have placed an order with Canon and if it says back ordered they are not prioritizing those orders when they re-stock. Instead they are showing the item in stock and taking new orders. The ones that are in ā€œbackorderedā€ state are getting cancelled. Now if you have the time and want to know the full story and my rant on Canon please read ļŠ
After my first order was caught up in the fraud detection fiasco and the transaction got declined Canon simply said since the charge was declined we sold it to someone else. As you know the 6D2+24-105 is been constantly in and out of stock for the past 24 hours. I was able to get it one time when it showed “in stock” and ordered it last night at 9:17pm EST. I tried to check the status this evening around 3pm and it said ā€œback orderedā€. At this time I checked their website and found that it was in stock. So I called them to find out what was going on. By the time I get to a customer (non) support representative (CSR) after a 20 minutes wait it was out of stock again. And the CSR tells me it was not in stock hence they will cancel my order. I tried explaining him it is been in and out of so many times since I ordered. The CSR do not want to listen to me at all. He simply repeats the same story again and again and he raised his voice on me. At this point I got annoyed because since I ordered it, it is been in stock so many times and this knuckle head tells me he is going to cancel my order he also raised his voice on me. I ended up yelling at him and he dropped the call. I found it is showing back in stock around 7pm EST and wanted to check my order status. Guess what the order is not even in the order history. So I called them up again. This time got to another CSR who put me on hold and went to talk to their supervisor and came back after a brief hold and told me that they had blocked my order because it was out of stock. Since it was back in stock at that time they are going to fulfill my order. I asked them to cancel my order. I am so annoyed I just can’t baby sit orders placed with Canon. Based on my experience once the order goes in to ā€œbackorderā€ status they are not fulfilling those orders even more items becomes available instead cancelling those orders and taking new orders. For the first time I am annoyed to the core with Canon. FR (you expand that to whatever you feel likeļŠ) canon can’t even seems to get a single thing right lately. So bottom line if you have placed order and it shows back order Canon is not going to fulfill that order. You have to keep checking it and call them up when in it is in stock and get the order fulfilled. If you are lucky to get to talk to someone before it goes out of stock again your order gets fulfilled otherwise you are SOL. Wish you all good luck.

I have been told the exact same thing about back ordered special sales items from two Canon reps. However, they both really tried to get me the gear on back order by offereing personalized discounts on other combos. In the end, I got what I wanted when it came back in stock, ordered again, and called to cancel the back ordered order.
Shipping times this year were horrible though. Two weeks plus for standard shipping seems to be the norm this Christmas!
