Convince me: why should I buy this camera system over the Nikon d850?
I own the D810, am happy with it. I used to be with Canon, last I had was 5D3. If you already own the Nikon system, then go for the 810 or 850, or 500…depending on what kind of work you do. The 850 is so new, it’s too early to say if there are production defects…like there were on the 800.
I feel like Canon is dropping the ball. They had every opportunity to have the 5dsr whoop the 850 and just fell short. Of course on an talking purely stat wise. I’d like the 5d mark iv so I can do 4k video, but I also want to do portraiture, and the 850 is clearly better in that aspect.
Actually the D850 was released much later than the 5DsR. That doesn’t mean D850 isn’t good. I do think Canon needs to up their game and I shoot Canon.
I wasn’t aware of that Vivek Khanzode, but still…its Canon. No excuse to habe old tech on a new release. It’s like they’re Apple. Ha ha
Brian Gallucci I agree, I got tired of the choices Canon makes regarding camera bodies and their features. 850 is better in all aspects, as is the 810, other than for video.
I don’t regard the Sony mirrorless as good cameras, though they seem ok for video. They are toys, simple as that. Sony are not “camera designers”, they should have kept more of the Minolta engineers.
If Sony were a camera company they wouldn’t need to farm out their lenses to Cosina.
Carl Eberhart you should take another look, Sony is making huge moves. Farming out isn’t unusual…Fuji makes Hasselblad lenses. Sony makes sensors for Nikon, Fuji, Phase One, etc. The a7r3 is a LOT more camera than the 5ds R. 4K video, double the frame rate, way larger buffer, less noise, better DR. Now has double card slots and they fixed the battery life. If they add weather sealing and better pro support for repairs, people are going to leave by the thousands. I’ve been shooting Canon for over a decade and might be switching soon. Canon proves to be too comfortable with minimal improvements for each generation.
Also, Cosina makes or has made products for CANON, Nikon, Olympus, Rollei and Carl Zeiss.
The Sony a7r3 is definitely making an impact. I am not a fan of the mirrorless cameras, but hey…no one wanted to switch from film to digital when it popped on the scene and look where we are now.
Brian Gallucci I agree. Still on the lenses, they have put out a 16-35, 24-70, 70-200 and 100-400 that are as good or even better than the Canon counterparts.
Not bad but needs to go lower.
Why do people mention going with the 5D MKIV more so than the 5DS/5DSR?
Its worth 1000$ whh do i want this garbage?
