Today’s B&H DealZone (one-day deal) is the Western Digital 6TB My Book USB 3.0 External Hard Drive for only $149.95. Regular price is $200, so this is 25%-off today only. This is a fantastic price for backup storage, only $25 per TB.
This is a 6TB external hard drive capable of up to 5Gb/s transfer over USB 3.0. Although the hard drive is noted to be pre-formatted for Mac (HFS+), it can be easily reformatted to support Windows or other operating systems.
For Mac……
As noted in the post, it can be easily reformatted to support Windows.
I have a 2tb hdd from WD as a backup, and the included software was garbage. It constantly says “The target drive does not have enough space” or something that, even though it is the same size drive. Does anyone know of a good free program to use for backups?
For the price, this is a pretty good deal, but I think it uses the same junk software.
I use a Mac, and have a one-line backup script using ‘rsync’. When I used to use Windows we used SyncToy (a freeware tool from Microsoft), but not sure what is state-of-the-art these days.
