I hope this on is built like the 50mm STM and not like the worst lens ever (10-18mm)

Curious, why do you think the 10-18mm is the worst lens ever?

Hmm, I like the general idea, but really, crop sensor only though?

Interested in seeing how the LED light plays out. With a focal length of 35mm, you will need to be right on top of whatever you are photographing on the macro end, so getting light in could be problematic. LED light might revolutionary, if it gives enough light to matter.
Probably going to hang on to my 60mm macro in the meantime, but it might be fun to try this one out if I get a chance.

That’s why ring lights/flashes exist for macro lenses.

Pretty much what I was getting at. If the built in light is not sufficient to replace the need for a ring light or full on macro flash, then it’s just another bell and/or whistle. And considering how close you will need to be with a 35mm focal length, a ring light or flash might get in the way. I have a ring light for my 60mm, but I hate it, since if I get too close the light drowns my subject, and it has no way to be metered. I’d really like to check out the 35mm first hand, and see how the LED plays out.

Also gonna have to call into question the STM focus on a macro lens. I’m sure in auto it will be fine (at least as fine as AF can be on a macro), but that means focus by wire for manual focus. That means not only are you missing that mechanical feedback, but also, you are focusing in steps in manual. Again, would like to get my hands on one and test it out.
