Worst camera that I ever bought. Loss of sharpness around the edges. Returned camera and the replacement was the same.

That’s usually more of an issue with the lens..a lower quality lens wide open will have vignetting/loss of sharpness around the edges.

I first sent the lens to be tested/repaired. Came back saying it was fine, couldn’t find anything wrong. Next sent camera with the lens that came with the kit. Still found nothing wrong. Related entire kit and still the same results. I even sent them 5×7 images taken with my older T2i Rebel with the new lens and then took same exact image with the 70D, same lens, shutter speed and same f/stop. The 70D pictures were soft. Took the camera and lens to local Canon dealer and they agreed on the soft images around the edges. Canon wouldn’t even allow me leave a bad review. I upgraded to 7D and love it but I really liked the Wi-Fi and touch screen on the 70D. Ended up having the 70D converted for astrophotography.

I bought my 70D in November, it takes razor sharp pics. You just didn’t have the AFMA dialed in right. 7D sucks by comparison. If it doesn’t take sharp pics then you couldn’t possibly use it for astrophotography.

You’re right, I must be imagining it. Meant to say that I upgraded to the 7D Mark II.

And the 70D is such a great camera that Canon dropped the the price by $500 to get rid of them. Sorry you paid full price too.

I prefer Canon and I’m too heavily invested to change brands. Perfectly happy with the upgrade from the 70D.

      LOL… Troll alert.

I have been a canon boy for years but I also want to get into Nikon…both brands have their pros and cons…Canon is and always will be the bigger company though.

Just spend the few hundred more for the 80D. It’s what the 70D should’ve been.

    1. March 7, 2017 at 12:02 am EDT

Disagree, the image sensor didn’t exist back then…and I just bought a 70D, had rented the 80D before that. To me a “few hundred more” was definitely not worth it. The only reason to spend more is to go full frame…and IMO for now the full frame value is Nikon.

Not a bad deal but that kit lens is a waste of money, better to just get the body.
