It’s Black Friday! Where Are the Canon Deals? They’re at CPW.

Black Friday is finally here, and many readers have been surprised and disappointed with the lack of Canon deals. Having watched Canon prices intently for six years now, I can’t say I’m surprised with how Black Friday turned out this year. With the strong Canon minimum advertised price as well as the war waged on the grey market, there’s just no discounting unless it’s a Canon USA sponsored discount. This year, there was none except for a Speedlite, some rebels, and a printer.

Although there are lots of great deals on bags, tripods, and other knickknacks through B&H or Adorama, we’re not seeing the previously ubiquitous printer bundle deals (thanks to — you guessed it — Canon MAP policy rules.)

So where are the deals?

One of the better deals this week is the Canon refurbished sale on bodies and 15%-off refurbished lenses. Savvy readers will note that this sale comes around a few times a year and have been following via our refurbished stock tracker.

As for brand new items, dear CPW readers, you have been sitting on a treasure trove of Black Friday deals all this time. Our street prices are already great low prices all-year round (that means we haven’t been holding back), and our Black Friday specials have been running for the last week. The are our best deals available, and we don’t expect any broad price drops on these items in the near term (barring any Canon USA sponsored craziness). Many have sold out, but there are great ones that remain, stackable with the lens combo mail-in rebate and the CarePAK Plus (where eligible). Here are some of our most popular deals — but not for long, because the next change we expect is prices going up after Cyber Monday.

(Lens prices assume two-lens purchase for combo lens mail-in rebate eligibility.)

If you purchase something through a link on our site, we may get a small share of the sale (at no cost to you). Please read our disclosure for more info.

I’m so looking for a discounted price on the 7d mark ii. Ready to buy it but able to wait so I’ll just keep waiting and watching CPW. Thanks for all your help!

Isn’t the 80d a better camera than the 7dii besides the frame rate? Newer sensor technology, better score from dxo

I do outside events a lot- like road races, ocstacle course ,etc so the faster frame rate and the weather sealing make this better for me.

Canon needs to lift the MAP to make it competitive enough for retailers to give consumers some deals. Personally I think MAP is price fixing and a major hit to free enterprise.

They will learn with only diminishing returns with the present socialism.

Unfortunately, Canon isn’t the one leading with MAP, they’re just following in the footsteps of all the other major camera manufacturers (Nikon, Sony, etc.) who have MAP and even more restrictive pricing policies.

We should be thankful Canon isn’t going to a “unilateral pricing policy” which would forbid any retailer from discounting, period. Although they are starting to get close to that.

Disappointed. No stacked coupons any more.

I keep on telling everyone… the stacked refurb coupons really was a price mistake last year, not a deliberate sale. I know it’s hard to believe it when they make the same mistake two years in a row… but both times they cut it off irregularly within 2-3 hours, which tells me they didn’t intend to run that discount.

Seems like a good price on a 5D3. We’ve used our two bodies very hard the past couple years in many unforgiving conditions.

I am more than ready to buy a Mark III, been shopping since November 1. The street price looks good, but I do have another bundle I am confident in. I can get a BG-E11 grip and a 1.4 50mm for $2800. I think that’s a great deal. The body only at a street price of $2100 is tempting too, and I’ll buy the others separate and save $$$. However, my one stumbling block is Cyber Monday. I do not know Canon’s history with it and I am wondering if I should hold out. Any help?

I saw more people buying nikon, refurbished D750 is at really a good price, when people go from APS-C to full frame, look like nikon D750 is good choice while they intend to choose canon at the beginning but the old price is not comming back.

I missed the good deal on the 7D Mark II a couple weeks ago but am ready to pull the trigger now. I’m hoping they bring it back!

bummer, but like others I’m holding off, I won’t go over 2K (even if it’s by $99) for the MK III, don’t need to so won’t
